I wrote this during Orlando’s run to the NBA Finals and my stance on the shoe’s design and technical specs hasn’t changed much. If you’re interested in copping a pair of the TS Commander LTs, hit up shopadidas.com. (They’ve got the illy team flavors, too!)
When Dwight Howard takes the court to do battle with the Boston Celtics this evening, he’ll be wearing the adidas TS Commander LT, Adi’s ’09-10 evolution of the reliable TS Commander. The LT was designed with the NBA’s finest “Commanders” in mind and will be sported by “Superman” Howard, Timmy D, and Kevin Garnett when the NBA season tips off next Fall.
Last week, the kind folks over at the Three Stripes blessed me with the opportunity to explore their “mi adidas” personalization service and configure my own pair of unique kicks. (My–or should I say mi–handiwork will surface here in the coming weeks.) Previously available only in adidas Sports Performance emporiums ‘cross the pond, the brand consecrated the Oh-Nine by bringing their I.D. initiative worldwide and arranging a one-stop digital shop at miadidas.com.

In the past couple weeks I’ve blogged extensively about the adidas TS Commander BOUNCE. As a self-proclaimed sneaker nerd, I get a little jaded when I see Three Stripes, a Vector, or a Swoosh plastered across the midfoot of a sneaker, so I’m happy to report that Adi implemented their signature marks in a way that not only diverts from their classically-styled norm, but augments the fit of the shoe. Cookie Miller, a 5’7” featherweight point guard from Nebraska, sported this flavorful patent red/white pair when the Cornhuskers hit the road recently. What do you guys think?
With all of the commercials, competitions and celebrities besieging NBA All-Star Weekend, the actual “Game” is frequently lost in translation. But with implications of year-end home court advantage on the line, players, coaches and rabid fans should anticipate some semblance of organized play and top-flight performance… after the first half, that is.

Imagine you’re 6’11″, 265 LBS., and have a mean midrange game and a 40+” vertical. (I said imagine, right?) Alright, so you might not measure up to Dwight Howard, but with the adidas TS BOUNCE Commander your dogs will be pampered much like DH’s feet. The shoe is the latest hit from the Three Stripes camp and will be worn by many of the brand’s brawny “Command” players throughout the rest of season.

My brother’s high school squad switched back to the Three Stripes after a problematic one year tenure with the Swoosh. (In Wisconsin suburbia, adidas rules the roost, so most players were content with the switch.) The battalion of adolescent ballplayers were hit off lovely with two pairs of the adidas TS Pro Model, one in black/white, the other in a compelling white/silver make-up. The latter is distinguished by an iridescent, chrome tonal effect along the midfoot, which looks great on-court. Admittedly, I’m not one for the Philistine influenced, “All-patent, all the time,” look, but the considerate application works well here. The model is finished off by a metallic ankle collar and rounded toe cap. I’m patiently waiting for the team-directed flavors to hit Eastbay—you know I’m down for a white/purple, white/burgundy, or white/forest green!
Travel along with adidas and Dwight Howard as they film a spot at an NBA Testing Ground Center at a secret, undisclosed location for the new adidas TS BOUNCE Commander. The commercial calculates Dwight’s yearly jumping stats, converting his functional energy into various statistics–pretty cool, methinks
Backed by a healthy dose of “Brotherhood” influence, the name to adidas’ game for the 2008 hoops season is Command versus Create. More particularly, the brand has focused their design and production efforts on the TS Commander, a sturdy shoe directed towards brawny power forwards who control the pivot game with vigorous finesse, and the TS Creator, a guard-oriented shoe crafted for silky smooth shooting guards and lightning-quick court leaders.
