We recently received an open letter from our friends at Hoops 4 Hope:
Dear Friends,
Hoops 4 Hope has made some remarkable achievements so far in 2009. We remain optimistic about our efforts both in the U.S. and in southern Africa, but our friends in Africa still need your help! Many of you have been asking me how the current economic downturn has affected H4H in Zimbabwe:In the face of tremendous obstacles on the ground there, our Director Ngoni Mukukula continues to achieve remarkable results with minimal resources, inflated cost of living, failing equipment, and political strife. Today funds are needed, more than ever, to cover the salaries of our coaches, the school fees for our children, the petrol and maintenance for our vehicles, and the upkeep of our courts, equipment, and local office. With a system and society on the brink of collapse, H4H is still in full operation keeping children’s hopes alive in many communities and orphanages, through BASKETBALL.
Hit the jump to finish the letter and learn how to help H4H’s cause.

Hakim Warrick, Rudy Gay, Mike Conley, and Kyle Lowry of the Memphis Grizzlies visited STREETS Ministries on January 15, 2009 as part of the worldwide Samaritan’s Feet Shoe Drive. Before fitting several young boys and girls with new Nikes, the players washed the children’t feet, a tradition that dates back to the ministry’s inception. To learn more about the event or to check out video footage and view photos, please visit the Grizzlies’ website.

DJ Shadow recently partnered up with Shoe Biz and Reebok create a limited version of the brand’s classic Ventilator jogger. The model is colored up in white/dark grey/black color scheme that for lack of better word is reminiscent of something shadowy. The shoe is accented by a mesh toebox, translucent outsole, and a “What Does Your Soul Look Like?” logo that rises vertically on the runner’s posterior. The Vent is accompanied by Shadow’s “Quannum Stone Cold Winter” disc. To learn more, please visit here.

From Italy to Belgrade, one way, looking for some streetball. Belgrade is the Serbia’s capital city, a nation with a great b-ball tradition, and a key city of the european ball movement. The former Yugoslavian national team (Serbia & Montenegro from 2002 ’til 2006, Serbia right now) won tons of international trophies, one Olympic Title, five World Championships, eight European Championships, being (together with Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia until 1991) a fundamental part of the european b-ball heritage. Earlier than expected, the Air Jordan 2009, or Air Jordan 2K9 or Air Jordan 24 has landed. It will come as a shock to many that there is no Jumpman logo. This picture is not the best and hopefully not the real shoe. However many websites are reporting that it is. It may just be an unfinished prototype.
That’s all we got!
Expected release date is February, 2009.
