Armand Gives Fordham a Verbal The Latest / Jan 5, 2010 / 9:30 am

Sean Armand, the 18-year-old who sliced through defenses and averaged about 25 points per game this summer for the NJ Trail Blazers at West 4th Street, has verbally committed to Fordham, Trail Blazers coach Josh Hoffman said Monday.

Armand, who hails from Fort Greene, is a potent slasher and an above-average shooter.

He is currently attending a New Jersey prep school.

The final playoff birth was up in the air at West 4th Wednesday.

Their coaches were class acts. Their young point guard wowed us all summer with his ability to finish around the bucket. They played with intensity and passion that is often absent at West 4th these days. But, in the end, the many positives of the NJ Trail Blazers were outweighed by one negative: they didn’t have the size.

Sean Armand

Sean Armand went for 26 first-half points, but it wasn’t enough.

The sun shone brightly over West 4th Street Saturday afternoon as the NJ Trail Blazers’s jumped out to a 10-point first-half lead against Money Inc. But as the sky changed during the second half, the complexion of the game did too.

Muff Collins and Raphael Edwards dropped 28 points each as Money Inc. rallied to knock off the NJ Trail Blazers, 97-84.

The Trail Blazers’s 17-year-old stud Sean Armand netted a game-high 36, 26 coming in the first half. Read More »

Tommie Eddie

Tommie Eddie’s X-Men are now 1-0.

The last time Tommie “Gunz” Eddie stepped inside the Cage, he derailed Money Train for 30 points en route to a MVP in last year’s championship game. Eddie barely played Friday evening as he conserved his energy for the Fireball playoffs, but the result was still one we’ve gotten accustomed to in recent years: an X-Men W.

The Mike Campbell-less ’08 T.O.C. champs knocked off the up-and-coming NJ Trail Blazers, 91-84, behind Chris Wehye’s 20 points.

A lot of the attention coming into the game centered around the Trail Blazers’s 17-year-old sensation Sean Armand, who dropped 30 points against Bridge & Tumel Club in his last outing. Read More »

Sean Armand

Sean Armand dominated the game on both ends yesterday for the NJ Trail Blazers.

After NJ Trail Blazers point guard Sean Armand’s full-court defense forced Bridge & Tumel Club to take a timeout at West 4th Street Thursday evening, the 17-year-old uttered three simple words at a noticeably frustrated B & T player: “Don’t get mad.” But with the non-stop pressure Armand applied on both ends of the floor, it was hard not to.

The Daily News second-team all-city selection scored a game-high 30 points and forced several B & T turnovers to lead the Trail Blazers to an 82-74 win. Read More »
