Sadat X (formerly with Bran Nubians), AG (former partner with Showbiz), and DJ Jab (CEO/Founder of Fat Beats) have formed a new group called Trinity. Mark Kolintski of 88 Hip Hop fame helped put together the video tribute above to my man, my mellow Roc Raida who passed away recently on September 19th. Some of the footage will give you chills if you knew him personally. Rest In Peace to one of the legends of our culture!

Our man DJ Roc Raida, or Anthony to some of us, passed away. Tony Touch told me on the plane Saturday afternoon as we were flying back from Toronto. I came across this photo that I took of him in ‘96 during a battle at Barnard/Columbia U. Thought I’d share it with all of you. He seemed real calm and collected in it.
That’s how I remember him.
Raida and I met around 1989 through DJ Lord Sear who grew up with him in Harlem. They both would come down to 97th St. to chill at the Goat [Park] with our crew, and we’d snap, bug out, talk about kicks, whatever.

Anthony Williams p/k to the world as The Legendary Grand Master Roc Raida has passed away unexpectedly today Sept 19 2009. He is survived by his wife, 3 lovely daughters, mother and friends. Raida was recently in an mixed martial arts accident, something that he has been practicing for several years. Although he had under gone 2 surgeries with great success, was released to an inpatient physical therapy facility and was in great spirits the past few days. This morning he started to have complications and passed. The family asks for privacy at this time.
