Union Square in New York City – 2011 People’s Games

At the vein of city life are the parks and recreational facilities that give men and women a haven from the grind of work. The People’s Games, according to the organizers, was a celebration of the common man and his right to compete and display his skill for his sport. Last week the inaugural sport chosen to kick off the Games was basketball, and two cities that love outdoor ball – LA and NYC – competed in a best-of-three tournament, with the first game held at Venice Beach and the second on a hardwood floor placed at the north end of Union Square Park in NYC. Basketball fans from all over the D.M.V, showed up to Patuxent High school in Lusby, MD to watch an entertaining game of the best streetballers around in an effort to raise money in the fight against autism. It was a big success to say the least. In a packed gym where some had to stand to get a view of the game, the A.I.P (Anything Is Possible) hosted event gave the fans what they wanted and more. In the building to put on the show was A.I.P head man Pat Da Roc, Silk, Baby Shack, Lonnie “Prime Objective” Harrell, Helicopter, Elevator, Supa Dave, White Chocolate and NYC stars Future and Special FX to name a few. In 2008, Protoge partnered with the Entertainer’s Basketball Classic sponsoring the leagues uniforms. In 2009, they went to Fat Joe and created the “Blackout” signature shoe which is available right now in a couple of styles at K-MART.
