Although the Celtics lost in an ill fashion yesterday all I could think about was Rasheed Wallace’s Nike Air Force 1’s. I’ve admired this man for wearing this iconic shoe even though its technology is obsolete in 2010. I was more impressed with his “Gumby” colorway today than Kobe’s new White/Gold “Big Stage” Nike Kobe V. I had to pause my TV a few times to get a good look of this model because I was so intrigued. All I could think about was how I had a Bobbito moment and sooner or later I would be telling my kids about these Forces. This man plays 48 minutes not counting how many times a week he practices in them; this man’s feet must hurt on levels I can’t imagine. Read More »

Soul 2 Sole from David Park on Vimeo.

David Park, a graduating senior from the Parsons School of Design created this motion graphics piece as his senior thesis project. Titled “Sole 2 Soul”, the piece examines the intersection of hip-hop, hoops, and grips in urban youth culture. In the video, Run-DMC rocks out in adidas, Bugs Bunny appears in “Hare” Jordan VIIs, b-boys glide in PUMA Clydes and Dr. J. administers the funk in Chuck Taylor All-Stars.

The presentation and graphics work are so precise it’s criminal. Seriously y’all, Park killed this joint. Consider it 3 minutes and 14 seconds well spent. The cohesion of colors, sounds, and music are the most explicit form of resplendence possible. You dig?!

Black Friday Nike Air Force 1 DJ Clark Kent First Look

The long awaited Black Friday Nike Air Force 1 by DJ Clark Kent landed at Nike Sportswear, 21 Mercer Street at 4AM. Clark Kent designed the Black Friday Nike Air Force 1 with black pony hair throughout eyelets and toe box. Metallic silver is etched at the heel, Swoosh, and heel tab. To polish off the kicks, the midsole gives a glossy black shine which changes colors with the light. A glaring rainbow effect is reflected when the light hits the mid-sole.

Suggested Retail Price $150

Batteries not included.

Thanks to DJ Clark Kent for letting me in the door.

Manhattan keeps on makin’ it… Brooklyn keeps on takin’ it!
