A crowd of 10,386 was announced in attendance before the game started. At the 10 minute mark in the first half, the Kingdome reached full capacity or somewhere close to it with about 400-500 people. Faces like Duke Tango, Quentin “T2″ Hosley, Sean Bell All-Star’s Coach Rah, and Richie Parker were in attendance to witness the 2009 Championship between Dominican Power (blue jerseys) and Big Cuzin Entertainment (black jerseys).
One squad brought team-oriented style, while the other displayed individual talent. Kendall “World Premier” Provett, Kenny “Grown Man Stuff / Serious Satellite” Satterfield, Sean “Killa” Kilpatrick, Jazz “Total Package” Mansell, and Tyshawn “Bodywide” Valentine started the game.
Guess which team they were. Please don’t get it twisted though; the other team bragged names like John “The Franchise” Strickland, Raul Mercedes, Richard “Slasher” Rivas, Baby Shaq, and Frank “Frankie Chulo” Penn. Read More »

Nike reps, Bounce familia and the fans of NYC summer ball had waited for this day the way Lil’ Dez does when he sits outside Kobe and LeBron’s apartment– uncontrollably bopping around in excitement, just waiting to see their heroes.

At Dyckman Wednesday night, R2K/HITS took on Da Young Ones in what promised to be a goody with Da Young Ones’ Adris “2 Hard 2 Guard” DeLeon matching up against Hoops In The Sun star Dwight Hardy. But that hype fizzled pretty quickly.
“2 Hard 2 Guard” finished with 19, holding Hardy to just 9 points, despite a whole lotta minutes. Geddes Robinson led the way for R2K/HITS with 21, but it wasn’t enough as this one wasn’t even close in the end, with R2K/HITS being on the wrong side of a 72-56 final score.
“Secret Weapon” dropped 13 for Da Young Ones to help them advance to the second round where they will challenge Take No Prisoners (TNP). Read More »

John “The Franchise” Strickland was almost perfect from the line Sunday.
John Strickland’s free throw hit the front rim, then the back rim, where it sat for a couple seconds, before rolling through the net at West 4th Street Sunday. It was that type of day for the “Franchise,” who is back to add another season to his already storied NYC basketball career.
Strickland dropped 30 points, including 7-of-8 from the free-throw line, for United Brooklyn in a 105-92 win over the Gym Rats.
Darren “Primal Fear” Phillip added 29 as the Gym Rats had no answer for the veteran bigs. Read More »
