United Brooklyn snatched a come-from-behind victory over The Uptowners, overcoming a late double-digit deficit. Meanwhile, the X-Men’s typical balanced attack was no match for Big Apple Basketball’s dynamic backcourt of John Lucas, Jr. (33) and Corey “Homicide” Williams (30), who combined for 63 points. It’s a fascinating thing to rate players. As a playground soul, my heart dwells in skills that are not of the norm, moves and rhythm that are consistent, yet stylish. Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker are two that caught my eye early and both graced the cover of Bounce before the national spotlight caught up to them. After my weekend at the John Lucas Clinic in Houston, TX I’m feeling good about John Lucas and his mission. The man has the right people in the gym to give truthful advice to kids and parents to go along with the high-caliber training.

I wanna be like him one day and I’m working on it, but for now, here are my rankings of the top 10 players (7th and 8th graders combined) at the clinic. My thanks to talent evaluators Clark Francis and Van Coleman for sharing their time and experiences with me this past weekend.
