Basketball, broken down to its simplest compound, is about scoring more buckets than the team you’re playing against. The Semi-Automatic refers to players who leave bodies in their wake with their innate ability to get buckets. And no rookie since the All-Time greats Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Earl “The Pearl” Monroe and Wilt Chamberlain did what Brandon Jennings, aka The Takeover, did this weekend. Read More »
Fresh out the factory are these special make-up pairs of the the BB Proto 3 “Young Buck”, Under Armour’s exclusive shoe for Bucks 1-guard Brandon Jennings. “Young Money” will wear the black/varsity red version on the road and the white-based variation at home up until All-Star Break.
The Dish aka The Assist. It’s my favorite part of the game because it’s the most philanthropic. While most casual observers appreciate the dudes that can get buckets, my informal education as a New York City playground point guard stipulated that I acknowledge, comprehend and cherish the brilliance of the pass that led to the basket, as well as players with an innate ability to make others better.
And in my view, there were few better collegiate floor generals and pro role players than Jacque Vaughn. Read More »
The 4th annual Boost Mobile Elite 24 event, and it was an event indeed, was off the hook! First of all, anytime you put the top twenty-four high school ballers in the country on one court you’re bound to witness some quality hoops. But they weren’t gathered on just any court. They were gathered in the mecca: NYC. Over ten former Elite 24 participants are now playing in the NBA, so understand the level of comp. I’ve had a lot of fun announcing the game since it’s inaugural year in 2006, and was recently asked by ESPN to list my ten favorite nicknames I’ve come up in the first three years (that I can remember at least!)
Lance Stephenson aka “Born Ready”: Lance was killing at EBC, Kingdome, and other men’s tournaments before he even stepped into the gym at Lincoln HS. Born Ready was the best way I could describe his game, simple as that!

Other than being known as the Blake Griffin Sweepstakes, this year’s selection of up and comer’s will be synonomous down the road as the 2009 Point Guard Draft. As a matter of fact, there were five floor generals taken among the first ten picks overall.
And despite the pundits that opined about the precipitous drop off in talent after the Clippers selected the Super-Duper Griffin, I was particularly delighted with the array of options at the #1 position. Read More »
Brandon Jennings has returned from his transatlantic hoops pilgrimage to compete in NBA Predraft Camps with the cream of the NCAA’s 2009 crop. The 6′0 LA native signed with the burgeoning Under Armour camp last Fall and will sport these exclusive black/yellow/white “Young Money” Prototypes during evaluative workouts over the next few weeks. The shoe’s perforated mesh upper is balanced by splashes of patent leather at the fore and rear. Armour’s shield logo is burned onto the middle panel and BJ’s “Young Money” moniker is stitched diagonally, left to right, on the padded ankle collar.
These joints are custom and exclusive to Brandon, so don’t worry ’bout coppin!
