Me in ARCH Athletics Shorts:
These black/white shorts are from the ARCH Athletics Apparel/Footwear package Chris Burns graciously sent me a few weeks back. The spacious fit and relaxed aesthetics made them my go-to this July. Unlike some of the silky jammies I’ve posted below, these match everything in my wardrobe. . .

Me in ‘09 k1x Hot Soup Double X Shorts:
I got these in the mail earlier today (Shouts to Troj @ Kay-One!) and had to floss immediately. Admittedly, I haven’t worn a pair of all-mesh shorts in a minute now, but the thorough ventilation on these puppies had me singing, It’s been a long time”, as I hoisted jumpers in the 95 degree heat earlier tonight.
Who else is feeling the extended ribbing along the hemline to form the “X”? Classic? World B.’s “Hot Soup” logo is stitched onto the rear for added flavor.
Attention: k1x Products are available to U.S. customers at Pick Your Shoes!
Where to cop: Pick Your Shoes.

My “One on 1″ interview series will seek out connections the movers and shakers of the footwear and apparel industry have with basketball. Chris Burns, Founder of ARCH Athletics, grew up playing on crates in Memphis and eventually played at a JC in San Diego. His competitive playing days were stunted by a nagging back injury, but he’s turned to coaching and helped place approximately 100 kids into schools on hoops scholarships through his grassroots CCB Network. You can find him at Arch Athletics.
Growing up in Memphis, where did you test your game? What court had the best competition?
I grew up in North Memphis on Fifth and Bickford. We had a nice inside court and an outside court. But we usually played in the projects on this hill on Chelsea by nailing a crate up to a telephone pole. As shorties, we could dunk on that. We also played at this house on a crate hoop. Nevertheless, Bickford was our spot and the battle was always Bickford versus Greenlaw, the rec. center about a mile away. Once my mom was able to get a permanent job, we moved from North Memphis to Whitehaven. It was the first time I saw a Wendy’s and McDonalds, hell it was the first time I saw a grocery store. ARCH Athletics (Athletes Require Competition & Heart) is the athletic offshoot of CCB Sports Network’s founding father, Chris Burns. The Status, a fashion-friendly shoe that can crossover into the park, is the first model to release from the blossoming Memphis brand. Distinguished by a perforated upper and synthetic leather overlays, the Stat is supportive enough to compliment the ratchet you developed with some wintertime seasonsing and a superb choice for cooling out afterwards. Cushioning comes in by way of polyurethane gel sockliners and TPU shock absorbers embedded in the midsole. Astute ‘heads should recognize what tread pattern inspired the outsole–chime your thoughts in down below!
The ARCH Status will be available in the coming weeks exclusively at CCB’s official website.
Thirty pairs will be available initially, each coming with an autographed inscription from Mr. Burns himself!
