I wrote this during Orlando’s run to the NBA Finals and my stance on the shoe’s design and technical specs hasn’t changed much. If you’re interested in copping a pair of the TS Commander LTs, hit up shopadidas.com. (They’ve got the illy team flavors, too!)
When Dwight Howard takes the court to do battle with the Boston Celtics this evening, he’ll be wearing the adidas TS Commander LT, Adi’s ’09-10 evolution of the reliable TS Commander. The LT was designed with the NBA’s finest “Commanders” in mind and will be sported by “Superman” Howard, Timmy D, and Kevin Garnett when the NBA season tips off next Fall.
adidas Basketball’s 2009-10 is headlined by this paradoxical “It on Me for We” tagline… Well, if anything, it’s a new take on the TEAM concept the Brand With 3 Stripes has been pushing for two seasons. In this debut commercial, you’ll see cameos by Timmy D, KG, Derrick Rose, Josh Smith, and Chauncey Billups.
Check back throughout the week for an in-depth look at adidas’ upcoming footwear and apparel offerings!
Dallas – The world’s most talented 18-and-under ballers have gathered in the Lonestar State for adidas Nations 2009.
Nations, which is in its third year, pulls prodigies from Africa, Asia, Canada, Europe, Latin America and the United States. The camp has also been a springboard for new footwear – Josh Smith broke out the Mad Clima Mid and campers sported the Top Ten 2000 in black/gold/white last August. Today, the players and coaches will hit the ‘wood in this resonant gold patent/black TS Commander LT specially designated for the event.

Free Darko’s cerebral approach to unclothing the statistical trends and maverick hardwood luminaries in “The League” is more sardonic than superior, more deductive than scientific. Penned largely by a cat they call Bethlehem and a dubious dude named Joey, (with the occasional guest lecturer in between) the blog is teeming with cultivated theory on all things NBA—I fully expect a Stern Manifesto to arise out of the camp sooner or later. With the success of their first title, “The Macrophenomenal Pro Basketball Almanac: Styles, Stats, and Stars in Today’s Game” added to their abacus, the independent camp collaborated with adidas to assess two of basketball’s brightest young stars: Dwight Howard and Derrick Rose. The result is two fully animated commercials that break down each player’s strengths and advantages, and how their tendencies are augmented by Three Stripes swag. Charli 2NA of Jurassic 5 fame provides the narrative vocals in the spots, infusing hip-hop with uncanny observation to create something that’s notable on all counts. The Wiz rock gold/black/white unis for the NBA’s alternative jersey nights. In the Twenty-oh-six season, Agent Arenas did reconnaissance work in a pair of Gil Zero Lows that corresponded with Washington’s vibrant regalia, featured perforated leather and swatches of ballistic mesh up front, and court sucking ForMotion pods under the hood. Gilbert’s not-so-famous moniker, “Road Runner”, is inscribed on the patent toecap. I think “Alchemist” would be more fitting here, though. Dude has done everything to turn nothing into something on several occasions, transforming a limited role at Arizona into a productive college career, and keeping title hopes alive in The Capital City season after season.
