Basketball, broken down to its simplest compound, is about scoring more buckets than the team you’re playing against. The Semi-Automatic refers to players who leave bodies in their wake with their innate ability to get buckets. And once upon a time, not too long ago, Jay Williams took the college game by the throat with some fierce offensive weaponry. Read More »

As a premier performer on the street, both as a chill out shoe and a ballers shoe, the Jordan brand rolls on and on after 25 years of strong game that only the Chuck Taylor and the Nike Air Force 1 have approached.
Now, D. Wade enters the Jordan house with an NBA title and a new shoe deal, joining an elite group of NBA performers who rock the Jordan brand. Finally, MJ has broken me down. My kids are laughing at me right now because they know I get my joints for free for the most part. After 25 years of watching the butters roll by like Benz’s on 24’s, I’m going to go out and get myself a pair. I know I must look like an alien to most of the basketball world right now, but I’m got. Watching the game today, be it on the amateur level, the blacktop or in the “L,” the word “rivalry” has slowly lost its value. Like the past handful of albums from James Todd Smith, today’s rivalries seem to be a lot more filler (hugs and laughter and media influence) than certified smash hits of yesteryear. Read More »

40 Cal received 25 stitches after he was attacked.
Around 2 a.m., 40 Cal, one of Bounce Magazine’s hardest workers, was slashed from ear to mouth on the streets of Catherine and Madison in his neighborhood on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. He has received more than 25 stitches and even some staples. I spoke to him a couple of minutes ago, and he’s doing well. But the random acts of violence have to stop. Out of the kindness of your heart, can you pray for 40 Cal to have a speedy recovery? Let’s shoot hoops and not guns!

JR PROS JHS BASKETBALL AT JHS 113… THE RACE TO MADISON SQUARE GARDEN IS UNDERWAY…
In two months, the Funsport Junior Pros Championship game will take place at Madison Square Garden following an NBA contest between the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks.
But, first, thirty teams of the top junior high school talent in the metropolitan area will do battle in pool play and playoffs at JHS 113 in Brooklyn. If the past Junior Pros standouts are any indication, we are about to get an early preview of the future of high school basketball in the tri-state area.
Riverside-8 won the season tipoff game, using a 15-0 run in the second quarter to take control and post a 54-47 win over the Brooklyn Patriots. Jack Daly (Eastchester), whose three-point banker just before halftime put Riverside ahead for good, led all scorers with 20 points. Aaron Walker topped the Patriots with 18 points while Pedro Lopez grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Read More »
