A new spanish website about streetball, www.homecourt.es, contacted me for an interview about asphalt basketball and they filmed it. We talked about my job as journalist, my baller side, streetball in NYC and Spain, music… Our culture!
Everybody knows that I love streetball and I’m very grateful to those guys for trusting me.
Sorry for the language, but if you are a Spanish speaker I hope you enjoy the interview.
Steve Burtt Jr. landed in Spain some weeks ago. ‘All Day All Night’ came to my country to help Vive Menorca to keep in the first league. It will be a hard goal because his new team is in the last position, but Burtt Jr. is doing all he can to make it happen.
His Spanish debut was a kind of soft, with 10 points (1-9 three point) in 23 minutes, but then Steve started to show why he is one of the best players in NYC. Against F.C. Barcelona (Andre Barret’s team) he hit 28 and last weekend he hit 25 in 25 minutes.
One of the best players in NYC streetball circuits, Corey ‘Homicide’ Williams did another great season in Australia. 187 was the star on his team one more time, but this year he got a special motivation in NBL: a dunk competition with his teammate Rosell Ellis. They bet to see who have the most dunks in the season. How much money? $1000…
The Spanish adventure went not well for Quinton Hosley. After several months without a rol in Real Madrid, T2 was cut by the team. Hosley made the bags to Turkey and will try to finish the season as best as possible. He is going to play in Galatasaray until the end of the season and will try to repeat his good numbers of the last year. The goal is to demonstrate that his game in Spain is not the real one. Good luck…
I had a week to think and reflect about the last NBA All Star Weekend. The result is that there were just a few things that go down in history: Shaq’s presentation, KryptoNate, Rudy Fernandez, Kobe and Shaq ‘friends for ever’… Anyway, I’ll have a good memory in the form of sneaker: the Adidas TS Lighthing Creator ASW09.
At first I thought that I couldn’t wear those colors, but then I realized that this was not the most important thing. The shoe is comfortable and functional. Now I have to look for a gold jersey to wear with those shoes perfectly. Anybody said Washington Wizards third uniform? Anybody said Agent Zero?
He we go!! The Spaniard Rudy Fernandez will be the first European baller who run the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He got more votes than Joe Alexander and Russell Westbrook (two great dunkers too), and he’ll compete against Howard, Robinson and Gay.
Rudy is playing well at Portland, doing highlights everyweek, but the Slam Dunk Contest could be his perfect moment to show to the whole world what he has (remember when he posterized Dwight Howard at the Olympics). Rudy Fernandez can jump!
Streetflavour is one of the best streetball crews in Spain. They are located in the Canary Islands and now presents their second mixtape, called Episode 2. It’ll be on the streets on January 9th, with a lot of high lights, freestyles, tournaments and pick up games from 2004 to 2008. You could watch unpublished footage of the 2nd Streetflavour All Star Game, besides international dunk contests and freestyle competitions (featuring Slam Nation, Wots and Da Move). Check it out their website (http://www.streetflavour.net/) and order this fresh mixtape soon. Read More »
