I first saw the adidas TS Supernatural Creator on the feet of Devin Harris, a former Wisconsin guard, late last summer and knew right then that I had to have them. After several empty inquiries to my people at the Stripes offices in NYC (they were staying uncharacteristically mum about their newest product) and the passage of several months, I got a better look at everything Supernatural when NBA All-Star Weekend 2010 rolled around.

Many thank yous to adidas basketball go-to guy Paul Jackiewicz for the kicks and intel on the nitty gritty behind the Supernatural line. He’s a fellow Midwesterner, so you know he comes correct. Read More »

Brandon’s stellar play this season has far exceeded the expectations of most hoops pundits and is a major reason the unsung Milwaukee Bucks are slotted 5th in the Eastern Conference Playoffs race. This new commercial from Under Armour features cameos of BJ’s new shoe, the Micro G Fly, (of which there is still no release date) in the gym and film room.

How do you feel about the route UA is taking in promoting Brandon’s more serious side? Would you prefer more of his humor come off in these spots, or do you dig the dedicated and no-nonsense flavor more?

Portland, OR- Li-Ning is making history tonight. The Chinese sport giant is the first athletic brand from the Middle Kingdom to set up shop in the United States and is doing so in the epicenter of American footwear — Nike and adidas both call Oregon home.

Don’t view this as a company overstepping its bounds or encroaching into waters unprepared and unwanted. Li-Ning comes well qualified, with exuberant LA Clippers guard Baron Davis repping a shoe called the BD Doom for them. Their Beardman logo has been a favorite on the many tastemaking blogs and sneaker forums, so from this layman’s perspective, they’re off to a great start. Peep game at: Li-Ning’s USA Website. Vintage Columbia U Crewneck From Homage

The HOMAGE crew released this incredible powder blue Columbia U crewneck a few weeks ago, featuring a reproduction faithful to the Ivy League school’s 1960s logo and lion mascot.

Not sure what that shiny material is, but if this sweatshirt is buttery soft like the C-Bus, Ohio brand’s tees, this one might not come off until things start heating up in April . . .

Also, HOMAGE has a slew of new styles for Spring available now at their online shop.

SPRING 2010 PRO-Keds from PK09 on Vimeo.

Dante Ross, the brand manager at PRO-Keds, purveyor of street culture, and Bob’s friend of two-plus decades worked with skater/producer “Monihan-Monihan” (born name Ryan Monihan) on a video lookbook for PRO-Keds’ 2010 Spring Collection.

Filming started in the East Village, ran through Williamsburg, and then finished in Flushing, Queens. Cameos come from 77 Klash, D-Stroy from the Arsonists, skateboarder JR Cronhiem, and Ease Da Man.

Product featured in this video is available now at most PRO-Keds retailers, with more coming in March.

This from UNDRCRWN’s Kari Cruz:

Haiti was hit by a second earthquake this morning (measuring 6.1) as the country reels from the devastating 7.0 earthquake only eight days ago. Last week’s quake killed an estimated 200,000 people, left 250,000 injured and made 1.5 million people homeless. Out of respect for those who have lost loved ones, their shelter and life’s basic necessities UNDRCRWN joins the rest of the world in grieving the tremendous losses to the people of Haiti.

Starting today, UNDRCRWN releases the “Assist Haiti” T-shirt for the Haiti Relief Effort. 100% OF THE PROCEEDS WILL BE DONATED to YELE HAITI which is the organization supported by Wyclef Jean. Throughout the week of January 20th through January 27th, UNDRCRWN will also be donating 5% of their total web sales to YELE HAITI. The shirts retail for $20 and are now available at UNDRCRWN’s digital shop

On a more personal note, I became fascinated with Haiti’s windswept Atlantic voodoo charm after reading a piece written by Mischa Berlinski about zombification in the country. I was considering a visit there this summer. I hope he’s alright. Here’s a link to the article: Into the Zombie Underworld.
