The PF Flyers Center Hi will be making its return to store shelves this upcoming Holiday season. Released in 1953, the canvas shoe was once a reliable favorite for ballplayers who tangoed on the parquet all along the eastern seaboard. Its playing days might be long behind it, but the Center was recently reintroduced with quilted uppers and textured mudguards, perfect combinations for your off the asphalt affairs.

I wrote this during Orlando’s run to the NBA Finals and my stance on the shoe’s design and technical specs hasn’t changed much. If you’re interested in copping a pair of the TS Commander LTs, hit up shopadidas.com. (They’ve got the illy team flavors, too!)

When Dwight Howard takes the court to do battle with the Boston Celtics this evening, he’ll be wearing the adidas TS Commander LT, Adi’s ’09-10 evolution of the reliable TS Commander. The LT was designed with the NBA’s finest “Commanders” in mind and will be sported by “Superman” Howard, Timmy D, and Kevin Garnett when the NBA season tips off next Fall.

Built for the game’s speediest guards and premier playmakers, the adidas TS Cut Creator is the ’09 supplement to the fantastically successful TS Creator Mid. From the top, check how Adi positioned the Stripes on the Cut to sit horizontally, beginning just below the ankle collar— it affords the shoe an ultra-sleek vibe that I’m diggin’. A plastic TPU ventilation plate is perched atop the branding to rid your feets of moisture and heat build-up. Other goodies include a mesh-based tongue and plush inner lining. Read More »

adidas Basketball’s 2009-10 is headlined by this paradoxical “It on Me for We” tagline… Well, if anything, it’s a new take on the TEAM concept the Brand With 3 Stripes has been pushing for two seasons. In this debut commercial, you’ll see cameos by Timmy D, KG, Derrick Rose, Josh Smith, and Chauncey Billups.

Check back throughout the week for an in-depth look at adidas’ upcoming footwear and apparel offerings!

Fresh out the factory are these special make-up pairs of the the BB Proto 3 “Young Buck”, Under Armour’s exclusive shoe for Bucks 1-guard Brandon Jennings. “Young Money” will wear the black/varsity red version on the road and the white-based variation at home up until All-Star Break.

The 906BB is the latest entrant into New Balance’s basketball family. Built atop NB’s exquisite Zip platform and a forefoot ABZORB cushioning insert, the 906 is properly equipped to hold up during a strenuous summer on the concrete. Up above, the shoe’s patent leather upper is rigged with a wrap-around tongue and independent lacing vamps that work conjointly to provide a fit that morphs to your foot’s bony structures during play.

Like nearly all of New Balance’s BB catalog, the 906 will come in a bushel of fruity team colorways–eight to be exact–so don’t fret if your team runs fulls in the color purple. Multiple widths for wide-footed fellas will be available, too.

The New Balance 906 BB is available now at NB Web Express.

If you’re an aspiring designer looking to refine your technique, break into the industry, or rap with other up-and-coming (or more established) designers, Project Bluefoot is for you. If you’re a shiftless bum with no artistic talent but enjoy discussing the technical merits of athletic footwear and admiring the handiwork of others like myself, PBF is also for you.

The second installment of PBF’s Intelligent Design Competition was announced yesterday. Entrants will be asked to design a Nike Basketball shoe fit for royalty — King LeBron James, that is.

Nike BB Footwear Designers Jason “Alphaproject” Petrie and Ken Link will be judging the renderings.

Bob reports in his issue #21 “Let ‘Em Marinate” column that Under Armour has plans to delay the release of their b-ball lineup until 2011. Even with the lag, the Baltimore, Maryland outfit will equip several Division 1 and AAU squads with special make-ups of the BB Protoype this winter and next summer. I’m particularly smitten with the shoe’s aesthetics and material combinations, so all of the pairs pictured above look lovely.

What’s your favorite scheme in the bunch?
