There have been rumors circulating in the street that Nike Pro-City @ Hunter College, arguably NYC’s best pro-am tournament on the summer circuit, would not be happening this year.
I’m here to say it is! My sources have informed me that Pro-City is on like popcorn. While the official start date has not been confirmed, have no fear that the one’s who consistently bring you some of the best of what the “League” has to offer like Ron Artest, Mike Beasley, and Mike Dunleavy Jr. as well as the best of what our city has like Kenny Satterfield, Mike Campbell, and Andre Barrett stands strong.
Hit up www.dimemag.com for their write up, and keep checking back here throughout the summer for updates, info on a start date, and who will be making appearances…

The Bounce Magazine family is pleased to extend congratulations to Bronx (NY) native Rasheen Davis. The former Rice HS and New York Gauchos AAU assistant coach has recently been appointed to the Pittsburgh University Men’s Basketball staff.
Davis, who is now the program’s video coordinator, will be a very dangerous man in the Big East this upcoming winter season. As the reigning conference champs, everyone will be looking to dethrone the Panthers. Coach Davis’ expertise with game film, however, means scouting reports on each and every opponent that will help Head Coach Jamie Dixon’s crew flex their “Panther Power.”
We (the Bounce Mag fam) are happy for Coach Davis and wish him all the success at his new post. It’s just crazy how Rice HS and the ‘Choz are producing top level coaches/administrators to go along with the player factory they’ve been running for years!

Villanova point-god Corey Fisher’s game is as serious as his expression.
The last ticket to the 2008 Nike Tournament of Champions has been punched, and it belongs to Bingo’s All-Stars. This super crew dethroned the 3x defending Dyckman Tournament (204th st./Nagle Ave.) champs TNP in a rematch of last summer’s finale in Wash-Heights. Bingo was led in the backcourt by the mixtaping talents of Corey “Fisher Price” and Bounce Issue #13 cover man Kemba “EZ Pass” Walker. A soul clap goes out to Fisher for taking game MVP honors. He beat out Ron Artest, the Glover Brothers, and Kemba for the award, finishing with a stellar 16 pts, 5 dimes, and 3 defenders in the blender. Read More »

Coach T with 2008 Tri-State Classic ’ship MVP Antifreeze
Money Train is certainly on the championship fast track after taking top prize at Mousey’s Tri-State Classic tournament. They defeated a “Schwarzenegger” strong Ed All-Stars squad, who were actually dubbed the favorites in this contest. Ballers and fans packed Col. Young Playground (145th/Lenox, Harlem) for last Saturday’s finale expecting to see something great. Well, both teams delivered like DHL with non-stop action. The crowd was treated to a come-from-behind overtime win by Money Train, a 44 point explosion by Quinton “T2″ Hosely, and a bookbag performance by Antawn Dobie…All within the same game! Read More »

Quinton “T2″ Hosley and Jason “J-Hi” McLeish celebrating their victory
The playoff action managed to somehow stay heated amidst an uncharacteristic freezing cold summer night at Dyckman (204th st./Nagle Ave.). The crowd was in full effect despite the sub-zero temperatures, watching their respective teams fight to keep their championship hopes alive.

(l-r): A victorious Randy Cruz, Kemba “EZ Pass” Walker, and Joe Cruz Jr.
Young CEO’s Joe and Randy Cruz brought a Hoops In The Sun All-Star squad up to Wash-Heights to battle Commissioners Kenny Stevens and Ralph Peņa’s Dyckman Select team. They brought out the best players from each respective tournament with H.I.T.S. reppin’ K1X and Dyckman flaunting the Swoosh, of course. The “Beach” crew cruised to a 91-74 victory behind the superb play of their young superstars EZ Pass and The Cab Driver. “EZ” led all scorers with 24 points, while his partner in crime finished with 22. Breaking News! This Just In! Listen Up!
Former Rice Raider and Drexel University bound guard Chris Fouch drops 72 at the famed IS8 tournament in Queens. With this, Chris set an all-time tournament record for points. I bumped into his pops last night at Nike Pro City at Hunter College and he was more than happy to share the story with me. From what I hear, Chris went into a Jay-Z Black Album “Moment of Clarity” type zone and straight dropped buckets from everywhere. This performance prompted the Fire Drill nickname. Now, that’s crazy!
Congratulations to Chris and the whole family!
Fouch is an all-city player that runs with the Gauchos organization. If any of our readers or staff have more info on this incredible accomplishment, leave it here!

The three-headed monster of a backcourt with their coach Tony Rosa
I stopped over in Wash-Heights a few nights ago to take in some games at the Dyckman tournament and was treated to one heckuva guard show. Coach Rosa, who’s known for bringing the funk when it comes to floor generals, brought a young yet incredibly solid group to the tournament that night. Two D-1 products in Jamal Womack and Ryan “Special FX” Williams, as well as an up and coming dynamo in Ryan Salcedo, make up the three-headed monster that is the Mustangs’ backcourt. Read More »
