The TNP new recruits came up big!

Yesterday, it went down in Bayside, Queens, as the DnD tip off commenced. The first game featured the defending champions TNP against the Lower Manhattan Classic All Stars. It was a show from the opening tip as Brian Gardenhire took over early slicing and dicing the TNP guards to shreds. Brian had a game-high 33 points and eight assists with some help from his brotherb Justin Gardenhireb who had 24 points. Charles Lott also did damage and chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds.

LMC had a ten point edge over over the defending champs until late in the third quarter but with no reinforcements on the bench the LMC squad ran out of gas and the TNP vets stepped up in the end. From the sideline you could hear 40 cal screaming at his team to let Sharron S Class Brown shoot which turned out to be disastrous at the end of the 3rd quarter as he lit up LMC from beyond the arc hitting 3 out of 4 three pointers in the 3rd bringing his team back within one, he finished with 29 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds, He also had help from Ant Cox who had 21 points and ten rebounds, Ty Bodywide Valentine also chipped in with 12 points and 8 rebounds. The final score was TNP 104, LMC 81.

In the second game Money INC took on the Gunhill All Stars which turned out to be another good game, Gunhill took over the game early holding onto a 17 point lead with the help of Ja Ja who had a game high 26 points and 6 rebounds but James Stixx Williams aka Cross Seas money was determined to not lose on opening night bringing Money INC back with a barrage of points in the 4th quarter he finished with 25 points 9 rebounds and 8 assists he also had some help from Wayne Turner who had 21 points 4 rebounds and 7 assists. The final score was Money Inc 91,  Gunhill 87.

Tommorow night’s DnD games will be good as well as a rivalry will be renewed in the first match up with Sean Bell taking on The champions of the Lower Manhattan Classic Uninvited Guest featuring last years DnD Spring invitational and LMC MVP Miguel Boondoxx Rodriguez at 7 pm.

Last year Uninvited Guest was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs against Sean Bell so expect them to be looking for redemption. In the second game we have the Bedford Y going up against Haron Hargrave and the Queens Trailblazers at 8:30, which should be a good game as well.

  2. Casey Lee says:

    Basketball in its purest form!

The DnD Invitational is the best non-summer basketball league in NYC!

If I get more time, I will definitely make my way out to Queens to peep the new talent.

  3. Chi-towns finast says:

New York is lucky to have winter tournaments like the D&D Invitational. I will be in Brooklyn for three weeks so i’ll get the chance to see some games.

  4. Elliot Rosado says:

I like tournaments like this where an average player plays well for you then thinks your going to put him down for the summer, But i was killing for you all winter coach, I know but the college players is home now. LMAO!

  5. 40 cal says:

I think the new recruits from TNP will stick, well at least the big men and this new kid Mookie, he dosen’t really have range but he sure knows how to get to the basket, they looked good the other night and a few cats from TNP is getting old, the age don’t mean nothing but guys get tired quicker, if they revamp TNP with some youth there a shoe in for T.O.C this year!

  6. Freeman (Harlem) says:

    @ Eliot Rosado

Maybe that happened in your life alot huh.

I was at the D&D the other day. Coach Rah was there running his mouth as usual. I watched TNP comeback on 40Cal’s team. LMC just needs a few more pieces.

  7. Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love says:

Coach ken du once invited me to run with TNP in the D&D, this was like 2004. I was never able to get out there for a game and I wish I had the pleasure, kind of regret it now! taking the iron horse from harlem to outskirts is no joke, though. i was running in gershwin’s (bk) almighty force with sha-hee for a minute, but the hour and 20 each way was killin’ me. wow. props to d&d, good brothers and they’ve been increasing their community outreach to kids, which i mad respect.

  8. Elliot Rosado says:

@ Freeman (Harlem) i noticed you said when you were at D&D Watching, key word “WATCHING” What you thought somebody was going to ask you to play. LMAO.

  9. Justin says:

Can someone tell me what days & time the games are played. I’m tryin to make it up there next week.

  10. Mo Mo says:

D&D is where we go to workout. The tournament is gettin better every year. What I like about the winter tournament is that them dudes don’t care who you are, if you’re playin bad, they is gonna ride you. Especially Dogg
They work a good combo too, Du tells you more insight on the player and Dogg is just str8t raw to tell what it is regardless to how you may take it. Truth hurts sometimes.

  11. Rich Dollar "Harlem" says:

Wassup with “Kingdome Allstars” they looked like the worst team in the D&D Invitational. I really hope that that was’nt thier real team becuase they’re representin Harlem in a bad way. Where the hell is all the ballers from Harlem.
