This past Summer marked the 10th anniversary of the Big Apple’s most prominent (and best dressed) beach tournament, Hoops In The Sun. After such a strong run in the summerball business, tourney Director’s/CEO’s Joe and Randy Cruz have announced their ALL-DECADE initiative, in which they’ll be selecting top moments from the past 10 seasons to be celebrated during this anniversary. Their plan is to recognize and honor the best of HOOPS IN THE SUN 10 year history.

You (the fans, coaches, players, and readers) will be an important part of this initiative because the Cruz Bros. would like your input on everything. They invite everyone to voice their opinions, selections, favorite moments, etc. through Twitter (twitter.com/hoopsinthesun), Facebook (facebook.com/JoeRandyCruz), and right here on Bouncemag.com in the comment section of this post. You can also hit ‘em up via email at Hitstalk@gmail.com to vote and join the H.I.T.S. mailing list. This way you can keep up on all the voting progress, as well as any news.

Starting Dec. 1, make sure you check on Hoops In The Sun fan pages (Twitter,Facebook) and Bouncemag.com every week to vote. Categories include: All-Decade Team (by position), Regular Season/Playoff performance, All-Star Game performance, Player of the Decade, Championship Game of the Decade, Team of the Decade, and of course the dramatics such as Dunk of the Decade.

Peep the statement from Young CEO Randy Cruz himself after the jump.

“This is something we wanted to do for a while, but of course had to wait until the 2009 season concluded to officially have 10 years to flashback to. In continuing our 10th Year Anniversary celebration, and to conclude this decade (2000-2009), we wanted the fans who’ve seen, coaches who’ve coached, and players who’ve played to have a voice in this process. This campaign will relive the greatest moments in H.I.T.S. history, and give insight to those who’ve never been involved in our league. Didn’t know something? Well this campaign will inform many. We love to get fans’ insight on what we do as CEO’s to make them feel like a part of the tournament.

“What began with Start N’ 5 winning the ‘chip in ‘00 and Team 914 closing it out in ‘09, has served up a decade worth of highlights, spectacular plays, and individual drama. H.I.T.S. will look back at all the signature moments and give the fans a chance to vote for the best, beginning in December.”

A whole lot has gone down at the Sun Dome in 10 seasons, including NBA All-Star appearances, multiple 60+ point performances, and the infamous “Golf Cart” dunk at All-Star Weekend ‘06. All results will be showcased prior to the 11th season, beginning June 12, 2010.

No doubt that I will also keep everyone posted on HITS history!

Joe and Randy Cruz do a great job with doing the extra, over-the-top coverage with things like the website, video, photos, stats, etc.
