1/3 the champs aka SEAN BELL ALL STARS!

In New York City, we have power house teams with big time players. In order to be put in the genre of power-house teams, you need to have someone with a high-enough basketball IQ on the sideline directing your every move, someone who knows where the mismatches are and when to take advantage of them.

The coaching position is vital to a team’s success, and without a coach with a good basketball IQ, your team is as good as an anvil stuck in quick sand. So who do you think are the top five coaches in NYC and why?

  1. Elliot Rosado says:

When you say best coach do you mean the most animated, the coach with the most money, the coach who’s the coolest, the coach who just stands there with his entourage. Because until I see a coach draw up a play it has to be for one of the above.

  2. 40 Cal says:

For some reason, I knew you would be the first one to comment.

  3. Elliot Rosado says:

@ 40, that’s because you knew that wasn’t a good question. LOL! But it is interesting so I’ll give you my 5. 5) Tony Rosa 4) Coach Rah (Sean Bell) 3) X-Men coach 2) coach from (team 914) 1) Bingo AKA Don Corleone the god father of streetball (Bingo’s all stars)I apologize to the coaches I mentioned who I did not know there name.

  4. Kenny Patt says:

Mousey was very good from a strategic standpoint. dont have a good gauge on the current crop but I like the dude that coaches the “Posse” and Master Rob.

  5. Coach Bingo says:

I might as well give my top 5 coaches

    1) D – LAW (PRIMETIME) EBC & NIKE PRO
    2) RAH – (SEAN BELL ALL-STARS)
    3) KENDU AND DOG (TNP)

  6. taz says:

I’m excited that all those coaches were mentioned and I really think my coach of the year has to go to coach bingo not only hes a smart coach he dont crack under pressure!!!! Keep doing what u doing bingo, I was jerked for announcer of the year by bounce but I’m glad insidestreetball got it right and they also ranked u bingo #1…

  7. Elliot Rosado says:

@ Taz, I don’t care what no magazine or website says, if Joe Pope is not announcer of the year it don’t count.

  8. taz says:

@ elliot I never even heard of u and bounce dont count cause I never seen them at any real streetball events!!! Thanks to sherm and don the real streetball editors!!! And their information is correct not lies!!! I dont consider bounce streetball anyway, its like pro-city!!! Real streetball is not based on lies and stolen information from other sources!!!!

  9. Elliot Rosado says:

Taz, Sounds like you catching feelings the truth must hurt. I’m probably the realest dude on this site so when I tell you that you can’t mess with Joe Pope its official. And if Bounce don’t count why are you here? Sherm & Don are your friends b/c they voted for you I’m at every streetball tournament out and I’m a part of Bounce mag ask about me. Step your game up for the summer of 2010. Stop looking for gimmies.

  10. taz says:

first of elliot or whoever u say u r, bounce I’s watered down and I will never approve anything the staff writes!!! Sherm and don excuse me insidestreetball is the new movement!! Get out the way cause the staff at bounce is going to get steam rolled! Its not about ur fake opinions cause everyone has one but bounce will never be streetball, stick to sneakers!!!!

  11. 40 Cal says:

So Taz what you trying to say when you something like, I never even heard of u and bounce don’t count cause I never seen them at any real streetball events, was Kevin Coliau not taking pictures at KINGDOME the day he came off the plane? How about Casey Lee at EBC Monday through thursday then at tri state saturday’s and sundays? How about Jon Lopez at dycman, trevor kapp at west 4, How bout Antonio at every tournament? How about Randy Millard and Lower East Scribe on the scene whenever they get a chance? I must have been the ghost at Rodney Park, Tri State, Together We Chill and other tournaments in the tri state area, only reason I wasn’t at kingdome was cause LMC ran on the same days? So what are you talking about? Why you so worried about guys putting Pope over you if our magazine is so fake, I heard you a ill announcer and never witnessed you mic, you may be the best in the city but don’t forget like Jay-Z said Men Lie Women Lie the numbers don’t. Get your facts together Maine before you talk about who was where and when. Matter fact call up Don and Sherm and ask them if your facts is correct and then talk, we can even call them 3 way if you like.

  12. taz says:

By the way I ask about u and u ring no bells!

  13. Kenny Patt says:

That cant be the real Taz.

  14. Kenny Patt says:

That cant be the real Taz. And Taz is a good announcer

  15. Elliot Rosado says:

@ Taz, Kingdome was horrible this year i’m sure you wouldn’t have anything to do with that. LOL!

  16. Coach Bingo says:

Have we got off track about what this post is about? lol. Taz and Elliot you dudes are crazy for real. lmao

  17. Elliot Rosado says:

Bingo, We already said you hold the #1 spot which is obvious b/c nobody is debating that. Maybe you should put a team in Kingdome this summer so you can give this guy something to announce about. LOL!

  18. taz says:

Yeah its me kenny I’m boycotting bounce like they did sal pizza!!!

  19. 40 Cal says:

Elliot, I didn’t know you write for bounce.

  20. 40 Cal says:

Bingo, please email me at 40calW4@gmail.com asap!

  21. Elliot Rosado says:

    @ 40, I do i just haven’t set everything up ask Bobbito & Sean.

  22. The Shermanator says:

Just got off the three way call with Taz and 40 Cal. It was a spirited discussion with both sides learning a lot. I think 40 Cal has a new outlook on Taz and his place in Streetball.

    Eliot,
I don’t like to get involved in these streetball squabbles but for you to question Inside Streetball’s credibility by accusing us of taking sides in our rankings is just CRAZY!

WE HAVE PAPERWORK TO BACK UP OUR FINDINGS! Neither Don nor I had a vote so friendship played ZERO part in Taz’s accomplishment. His knowledge of the players and history were what gave him the slim nod.

I also resent the implication that “If Joe’s not #1 it don’t count” or the implication that we’re not friends with Joe as well. If you check YOUR history, you would know that back when Joe wasn’t that well known city wide INSIDE STREETBALL’S 2005 DVD Magazine had him ranked #3. What we heard back then is similar to what you’re saying now. Back then it was “If Boobie Smoove isn’t #1 Ya’ll don’t know shit”. People also thought we were just haters when we didn’t have EBC as the #1 tournament. That year, we had Dyckman #1. Some of the same people that back then were calling us HATERS are now our biggest supporters. We believe that credibility is very important to an organization and we take ours VERY SERIOUSLY.

On background, we’ve actually known Joe longer and done more for and with Joe (No Homo) We’d NEVER hate on Joe, in fact, look for him spitting fire on The Mecca 2 DVD as he did on our first DVD five years ago.

    Also,
What makes your opinion so “official?” You go to a few games? You don’t even know Dytanna Mixon’s(X – Men) and Sean Oliver’s(Team 914) names. If you’re going to have the “Official Opinion” at least get the names right.

I’m not trying to hate on you but when you go at us for NO reason at all, we’re going to bring the claws out.

We have a ballot system and MANY of the people that you claim to respect filled out ballots. Our ballots were filled out by Tournament directors, Coaches, Players, Refs and fans. Even-though we didn’t want the results released until the Mecca 2 DVD was released, Taz jumped the gun and revealed the #1 Coach and Announcer. Yes, Taz scored higher than Joe by a few points.

Since it’s no longer a secret Congratulations to Bingo for being ISB’s Coach Of The Year!

  23. Big Mash says:

Leave TAZ alone elliot. I vote him number 6th best announcer in Harlem. dude is on his grind!

  24. Sean Couc says:

    Taz –

I personally have won 13times on the street as a coach and player. Twice at pro-city as a coach, 1 at EBC as a player, 3 times at Dyckman as a player, 1 as a coach
twice in Holcombe Rucker as a player, 6 times as a coach.

I mention this because I’ve put in the time and I understand the game. There is a whole lot more money out there then when I played but not when I coached and now that you’re smelling the money because there is something about to pop, Bounce is getting the biz from you.

I’ve shown nothing but love for Kingdome and this summer you got real personal on the mic about Bounce not being real. I was real disappointed…

I understand the opportunity your seeking and I just hope you get it by continuing to work hard and be a strong MC which you are. You don’t have to come at us like that when we never put anyone down or trash our comp. Inside Streetball is solid and real, no bull. i respect them and
know they rep the street.,, That’s how we get down.

  25. Sean Couc says:

    Actually taz it’s 15 times as a champ…

  26. Elliot Rosado says:

Shermanator, i don’t need to know anybody’s name thats not important to me, What’s important is that i know what i’m talking about and that i speak facts. I’ve been going to a few games for a long time now and the difference beetween me and you is that when a new face comes in on the scene you have to ask who he is, i already know who he is because i follow this game from 2nd grade up to unlimited. you work 2 months a year i work on this thing all year around. by the way you guys are late The summer was over 3 months ago we been knew Bingo was coach of the year. LMAO!

  27. The Shermanator says:

Elliot, you’re right man, I’ll shut up man and let you watch the 2nd graders.

  28. 40 cal says:

I wrote this so the coaches get shine, everyone talks about the player and how many points he has, how many rebounds etc etc, but no one seems to realize that without the coach, there is no championship.

  29. Elliot Rosado says:

Bottom line how can you give announcer of the year to someone who was announcing to an empty park except for the playoffs and that was b/c every other tournament in the city was finished. That’s makes someones credibilty suspect. Even a 2nd grader can see that. I don’t need a website to be relevant in this business. Sean Couch holla at me.

  30. Big Mash says:

@Elliot come on man TAZ rocked it. He told jokes, he rode a unicycle and he did a song with BARNEY THE PURPLE DINOSAUR SON! He brought back Barney’s caeer son! small crowd or not he’s still number 6 best announcer between 127th street and 131st street in Harlem. Don’t front on my boy LET’S GO!

  31. taz says:

@sean, I’m not that interested in ur achievements but besides 40 cal the bloggers at bounce r fake!! Sean I saw u at 1 event, and by the way mash I’m #1 in Harlem for 2 years straight!! Sean keep a lookout for my shirt that’s going to read one bounce don’t count!! I’m boycotting that magazine because all ur information is false!!! Remember, halfcourt line, 3point line, freethrow line, layup line!!!! The AmaZing!!! T.A.Z

  32. True balla says:

@ Taz, I wouldn’t call 40 Ounce a “real” blogger. He is kind of a hater with his own personal agenda. Being broke and irrelevant doesn’t make you real. Sean Couch is legit as is Bobbito and a couple of the younger cats (trevor, casey), not sure who the rest of these clowns are though. Between this and all that K1X crap 40 always writes about this blog has started to become real catty if you ask me

  33. Casey Lee says:

Back on topic…in no particular order:

    1) Coach Bingo
    (Bingo’s All-Stars)

    2) Lil’ Rah
    (Sean Bell All-Stars)

    3) Dytanya Mixon
    (X-Men)

    4) Sean Oliver
    (Team 914)

    5) Coach Tee
    (Money Train)

  34. 40 cal says:

zzzzzzzzz, true balla the summer ended a month and some change ago, I wrote about K1X that much for the simple fact that was my sponsor at the time being, what u want me to write about, who you, the fake balla, you probably didn’t even make your Jr varsity team.
P.S even if I was broke why does that concern you, only groupies worry about whats in another mans wallet.

  35. The Answer says:

@Casey Lee: What tournament did Sean Bell, Team-914 or Money Train win to make you come up with that dicision. I understand Bingo & X-men, they both won something this summer but those other teams was’nt even in no championships nowhere, except Coach Rah who lost the Watson chip. So our message to the next group of coaches is that in order to be considered in good coach, you have to yell at officials, run on the courts and rave, quit at any givin time when things don’t go your way, and most of all, you don’t have to win no championships. GEEEZZZUSSS.

    @Bounce
That team in the top picture did’nt play in no championship tournament no-where in NYC. The whole NIKE TOC experience was a joke. It was’nt fair that NIKE put together a group of guys from 3 different “Tri-State teams to win the NIKE TOC. Yall people is part of the reason why NY streetball is so commercial and water-down.
You put up these NIKE pics & blogs like this sh*t is official and yall know that NY did’nt feel that sh^t that NIKE did this year. None of yall editors over there has the heart to expose what the fuk is really goin on because yall bosses is dik-ryders of NIKE too. When the EBC dies, so will NY streetball. NBA players will only come out for the EBC. All them other tournaments in NY is just for yall NY guys.

What crazy is that I play pro ball and know what’s goin on in NY.

  36. Sean Couch says:

Taz, your proproganda is super wack, but we’re in America and u gotta pick someone to go at… We’re big boys and we’ll be who we are, straight up with information that is relevant, powerful and true playground. Much success to u and Kingdome.

  37. The Brooklyn Report says:

C’mon guys.Everyone is going off of the topic at hand. The Streetball fraternity in New York City is supposed to be “One Giant Force”. Everyone plays their part in this Streetball movement.Let’s end of all of the bickering please.

  38. G says:

curious Taz….if Bounce had ranked you as the #1 announcer, would that have made them a “legit” and “recognized” ball mag? and being that Bounce ranked Bingo coach of the year, does Bounce still not count even though theyve selected the same coach as you?
and what is a “real” streetball event? would that be an event that you are announcing at or an event that YOU deem worthy of being called a “real” event?

  39. coach k 914 says:

@The Answer team 914 won orchard beach and lost in the ebc chip

  40. The "Answer" says:

    @Coach K

Congradulations with “HITS” Thanks for correcting my error. No disrespect intented.
