Compton born and bred, Rucker Park approved, seasoned in Rome Brandon “The Takeover” Jennings is doing his thing in Milwaukee. The Bucks’ rookie guard almost got a Triple Double in his NBA debut in Philly Friday night (17pts, nine assists and nine rebounds) and came back against the Pistons and dropped 16 straight in the 3rd quarter (finished with 24 buckets). I saw the clip above and got open! Productivity, with playground style. That’s what I dig about him ever since I first witnessed the magic at the inaugural Elite 24 in ‘06. Word.

he’s got “special” written all over him. word came back out of the nba summer league that he was just doin’ it, doin’ it and doin’ it well. very excited for him and the sizzle that he brings to the table this year. i said before that this could be the year of the rookie pg and so far, the takeover, jonny flynn and ty lawson have not disappointed.

How,Why,Who,What were the Knicks thinking passing up on this guy? UNBELIEVABLE. Can’t wait for the Rookie/ Sophmore game. His name is going to ring bells. He might easily go of for 20 & 20. His flair and game is so refreshing for the league. He’s going to remind us of Kenny A like i’ve said before. One of his fav players. Wait till Joe Alexander and Jodie Meeks are back. I feel for Michael Redd. It looks over. I never understand how a player comes back from Knee surgery overweight. That means the trainers & doctors don’t have a clue. The weight puts to much pressure and re-injuries the player. Notice Gilbert & Wade & Kobe. Knicks are the new Hawks for passing on Paul or Williams like talent. Will pay for yrs to come. Duhon is the worst guard and player in the league. He didn’t crack double anything w/ Robinson hurt & overtime. Thanks Coach K, D’Antoni & whoever is a boozo over at the Knicks org.
Ty Lawson is a starter in this league. He’s knocking down the open jumper. Great timing with his pick in the draft for the Nuggs. Flnn is coming along but looking for his shot to much. Great talent though. Same as he did at the Cuse. He has to put it together. You could tell he like Steve Francis game. Very offensive minded. If he looks to dish more. Watch out. I know the Wolves are bad buy you have to make gold from trash. No disrespect but the Bucks & Wolves aren’t nearly as good as the Nuggs.

Umm yeah.. Watching this clip makes me quite salty!!! This young man could have been the PG for the Knicks.. I am still trying to figure out why he is not wearing the orange and blue… If he does turn out to be “special” in the coming years and Jordan Hill does not pan out… I want an official apology from Mark Jackson declaring that the Knick fans who were at the draft and boo’ed the pick knew what they were talking about.

The young’n does remind of Chibbs and a little Chris Jackson, hyperkinetic. Thus far, it looks like the young PGs are the marquee new players and evey night we are treated in the L to a good to great match-up. John Wall, Sherron Collins, Kemba Walker, Avery Bradley and others on the horizon. It is about to be on, like hot butta on the popcorn.
the playground will be the solution.

@illest
In the rookie/soph game for BJ it will be. If the Bucks were better he’d avg double digit assists. Mark my words. Rookies win this yr too. Oh man can’t wait. @funk… Don’t forget Corey Fisher, Malcom Grant, Edgar Sosa. The Knicks & Clippers need a yr suspension for being just plain bad. You don’t even use them in 2k or Live. Lastly D.Hardy,Mason Jr,Justin Burrell are pros they just go to St. Johns were your career is Over before it starts. Omar Cook,M.Hatten,B.Thorton & Definitely Daryll Showtime Hill who’s just as good if not better than Brandon Jennings.(Dont tell me I’m bugging because Brandon is in the league please…) Ask Marcus & Brandon seriously(Nike Pro city). Brandon went off & bigged up playing in the city I’m pretty sure they’d prefer him over Luke & Conley. Definitely over the Knicks starting PG. Won’t say his name anymore. He’s that bad. DAMN. The Cavs shouldn’t have cut Dre Barrett. A Travesty. This man belongs in the league along with Daryll Hill. When Brandon has the league buzzing don’t say I aint tell you so. Thanks to Mr. Jennings for keeping the playground alive while playing for one of the tougher/demanding coaches in the league.
FYI please NBA & Mr Stern no robbing B.Jennings of R.O.Y. to prevent Sonny from looking like a genius. Alike to Lebron receiving it over Carmelo ” I MIGHT HAVE THE BEST OFFENSIVE TOOLS IN THE LEAGUE” Anthony. Play some D and you’ll win me back as fan. Work on that damn 3 too. He looks unbelievable. JR Smith & Rashard will be back in the building soon. NY Knicks need Skip,Showtime,Omar Cook or Barrett in that order. Even Jamal Tinsley PLEASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Even Tim Hardaway. LOL.

I forgot about Sundiata Gaines & Gary Forbes they both need to be in the N.B.A. The Knicks could even use Carlos Powell. South Carolina (D-League Stud). Should have made Phoenix roster this yr. Got cut because of bums like Alando Tucker.

Man I love Brandon Jennings. Marcus Williams was getting busy Running the O yesterday. He should be starting over Conley. Did I say I love Brandon Jennings game. Gotta a little Van Exel and Mighty Mouse Stoudemire in him. Hope he gets a chance to work out w/ all of the famouse lefties. Ginobli too.

fan,
what’s up with dudes like Showtime and Carl Krauser? Are they overseas or in the D-League, anyone know?
And Dre Barrett is a pro, he should have a job before some of these back-ups. He is more of a PG than Boobie. When I watched him in the pre-season, he was getting everyone easy buckets, something the Cavs continue to struggle with.

@ Couch you couldnt be more right. Under Armour is feeling it too, they cant launch because of the crappy market Jennings is in. Props to Skiles for letting him rock right off the bat. Larry Brown would have ruined this kid, haha

Also to all the Scouts,Combines,Gm’s,Analysts,Overseas players & coaches. You guys were wrong as usual with the assesment on Jennings. You wouldn’t no special if it was next to you. Being able to excel in drills means nothing when it comes to playing the damn game. Small is still Size and so is Speed. Things you can’t teach are a dime & dozen in this league. Let’s stop drafting favors, friends, and alumni. Just because you go to a big time school u still could be a bum. Is Coby Karl in the league because he needs the money. I’d be ashamed of taking a deserving person’s spot. Dre hold your head. I’d love to see a match up of you and the elite in the league one day. The fans don’t know what their missing. Knicks if Gallinari is our future. I’ll Pass like Monoply.

Oran Juice Jones!!!!! Wow that took me back to watching Video Vibrations and Video Soul on the floor in front of the console TV! Seriously, I got upset last night watching him get in the lane and get buckets.. He hit one little left hand tear drop in the second half that made me turn the channel man! I couldn’t watch anymore out of frustration..

cant be depressed by the knicks decisions. all they care about is james…the front office is basically telling the fans to hell with you and the season. jennings on the knicks definitely would of been perfect. hes the type of player james needs to help his game. why would james come to the knicks now? nate robinson? dave lee? not enticing at all. the thing i like about jennings is that he is always on attack mode.
video soul….wow i just saw a clip with cherelle on video soul with donnie simpson. beautiful tv.
November 4th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
illest says:
before ali buggs out….james’s games doesnt need help but he needs that guard who can handle it and score it efficiently. plus he has the razzle dazzle. mo williams is a good player and its only a few games for jennings, but a jennings/james combo would be a little l.o.t.u.g. psycho.

don’t worry illest, i won’t bug out any more. at least that’s what i’m telling the cops. they got me strapped to a gurney and are intravenously pumping me w/ meds. i saw some brandon jennings clips and flipped out like damon wayans in colors, bouncing around the street buck nekit with a huge pink bunny rabbit.
the king and the takeover together! man, we talking cherelle and alexander o’neil, inspektah deck and the RZA, jay and big, marvin and tammi, meth and mary, ernie and bert, gamble and huff, eric and parrish, scott la rock and krs, rick and teena!

ali….you are funny. i hope you arent gettin away from the cops like gus johnson said chris johnson of the titans was doing.
YANKEES WIN! THHHHHEEEEEEEEEEE YANKEES WIN!!!
james and jennings is very enticing. and i love cherelle. tvone missed the boat with their unsung shows having teena marie, bootsy collins, and zapp as unsung. who doesnt know about those people? cherelle and alexander oneal are perfect for unsung. scott la rock and krs still bothers the soul.
and has anyone peeped sam smith saying james is going to the lakers next year? now hes buggin.

LA needs a Basketball team. Not one superstar. Kobe has been by himself since Shaq left. True testament to his greatness. Jordan Farmar needs a 9 to 5. The Lakers always say they don’t need the draft. Those same words have come back to haunt them. The Celts & the Lakers could use Rafer Alston. Especially L.A. that offense needs a real point guard. D.Fisher is useless. He can’t guard anybody. Cant dribble. Go after Jerryd Bayless or something resembling a player. How about Mateen Cleaves? LOLOL. Fell out the seat. Kobe is an old 31 because of management. With out Kobe this team is lottery. Odom is like an inconsistent nice barber.
Will Conroy would do a better job than Farmar. You don’t have to do anything & succeed. Farmar can’t even do that. His lateral movement. I’m done. The N.B.A. it hurts watching sometimes.

blk….its sooo early in the season to worry about that. i like what denver is doing. lawson and jennings definitely showing and proving early on. instead of paul wanting to fight rondo he needs to fight that clown owner shinn and get him some players. cuz paul will never win a title with that clown owner at the top.
November 5th, 2009 at 3:39 pm
illest says:
fan….what are you talking about? bryant didnt win that himself. without gasol, bryant wouldnt have won a title. he needed that inside player. when did the lakers say they dont need the draft? how did they get fisher and bryant? and magic? and worthy? the celts won a title without skip and so did the lakers. how is fisher useless when he has hit big shots for 13 years and has 4 rings? bayless cant even get off the bench in portland. is will conroy even in the nba? you have to take the emotion out the game and think with the mental.
bryant is an old 31 because he has played above the rim since he was in high school and has been in the league for 13 years. im sure he blames management for trading him from charlotte resulting in 4 rings and one of the best shooting guards ever.

what up Illest… I agree its early but you have to admit that offense does not flow as well without Gasol in the middle(and maybe its just a case of adjusting to Artest)… I watched a bit of their games and again its early but watching them I realized even moreso than last year how much better the spacing and offense is with Gasol…

ok so I was watching NBA TV and Jennings was being interviewed and they asked the kid what he was driving and he did not say Benz,Bentley, Ferrari etc.. He is driving a Ford Edge!!! If this is true I like this kid even more… B/c most dudes would laugh at him for driving that being in the NBA but I see it as being smart financiallyand maybe realizing ealy on that this money has to last him the rest of his life.. NBA careers go by fast and I like that he is saving his money.. for now anyway..

blk….its true. and i love how he killed the knicks. he didnt play long since the knicks are a disgrace but when he was in there…wow. he made a move when he switched hands from left to right and clyde said ohhh he looks like kenny anderson. overseas matured him and he learned a lot. he is getting it done with the general patton or scott skiles as his coach. he always talks to skiles and watches tape and is learning. the most exciting player by far to watch in the league right now.

November 10th, 2009 at 10:27 am
illest says:
blk….he definitely should have finished high school. but even that might not be enough. jennings is the perfect cat for this scenario. i mean this cat was rockin a high top a few years ago. son is a different cat. he had his moms help and he listened and learned. all tyler is a kid that was taller than everyone and felt he could go overseas and dominant. its not that easy playing against men who know more about the game of basketball and life than you do. there is a nytimes article on tyler that is a cautionary tale to all kids trying to do what jennings did.
