The Nike Recess Federation is a league designed for the urban and creative professionals of NYC. It’s really cool because they do it NBA style. You have a full draft, general managers, franchise players, free agency, trades, an All-Star game, and if you make it to the finals, you will get to play in the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden.

Also can’t forget about the post-game interviews from Dime Magazine’s Aron Phillips. The league membership is limited to 100 players, 10 teams, with only four returning players on the same team from the previous season. The rest have to enter the free-agent pool and hope to get drafted. You can only enter the league if you are referred by an active NRF player.

Paul Rivera is the commissioner, and he plays as well. He led the league in assists last winter averaging 5.8 per game. The Co-commissioner is one of Bounce magazine’s own, Justin Leonard, who has some game so don’t sleep on him. Notable players of the league are, Bobbito Garcia, Christian Grant Fields who played for the EBC dream team in 2007 and starred on the BET show Hamilton Heights, Bang Lee a.k.a. the Japanese Volcano who is the founder of Spaceballmag.net and plays all over the city with his team the Gym Rats, and a few more big names in the press industry! The teams are named after Nike sneakers such as The Air Force 1, Delta Force, Hyperflight, Foamposite, Shox, etc. I hope to show off at the try out and get drafted by a losing team (if I get drafted at all) to help raise them from the ashes! See you guys next Wednesday.
