Nike Pro-City director Ray Diaz had a big smile on his face when he learned on Tuesday night that the Nike Swoosh League – Nike’s seven-site New York City-Westchester youth tournament – was green lighted to start after the 4th of July. The league services 3,000 ball players throughout the New York City area and is the best youth league in the area, if not the country. Nike continues to show that it cares for the basketball playing community by funding tournaments of this nature. Keeping our youth in structured competitive environments that promote fair play, unity, and strong sportsmanship are needed as summer youth jobs are disappearing day after day.
A strong pound to Nike NYC for doing the right thing.

There were a few (too many if you ask me!) close calls in terms of some major nyc tournaments being cancelled for this summer. I’m happy to hear that all of favorites, especially the ones that service our communities and youth, are in effect.
NYC is certified RECESSION PROOF!
Great post Sean.
