Ray with Jim Couch.
Rutgers University's Brittany Ray played in the Uptown Challenge tournament in 2005 as a high school junior from Aquinas H.S. in the Bronx. She never forgot how good the comp was and decided to come back and play in 2009 when her trainer, Reggie Langston, asked her to suit up for the upcoming summer season.
The rising senior and sister of former NBA player and present Italian League star Allen Ray was Rutgers' second-leading scorer last year at 10.9 points per game and shot a team-leading 38% from the 3-point line. With Epiphanny Prince deciding to make history as the first American woman to leave college early for the pros, Brittany now has to ramp her game up and lead the Scarlett Knights as the primo first-option. While talking with her she mentioned how the rims at the Uptown Challenge - super-hard double-rims - make it essential to shoot with a high arc, thus improving the chance of getting favorable bounces on softer college arena rims this winter.
