Dyckman had a lot to talk about after giving up a huge lead Tuesday night.
As Dyckman guard Donnie McGrath exited the game after missing yet another jumper Tuesday night at Nike Pro City, he looked over to his coaches with a perplexed look on his face. For the sharpshooting McGrath, poor shooting nights are a rarity. But fortunately for the former Providence star, two shots at redemption would come a few moments later.
McGrath drilled consecutive threes from the left wing to put Dyckman, which choked up a 17-point halftime lead to the Uptowners, back on top with 1:44 remaining.
With Dyckman leading 122-118, Uptowner forward Andre Duncan knocked down a contested three from the right wing with 25 seconds left. But former Davidson guard Kenny Grant connected on both free-throw attempts and McGrath stole the inbounds pass to seal the win for Dyckman.
Former Hofstra guard Norm Richardson led Dyckman with 22 points and J.C. Mathis added 18, including 13-14 from the free-throw line in the first half. McGrath dropped 11.
Brian Woodward paced the Uptowners with 32 points and Adris “2 Hard 2 Guard” DeLeon added 23, 17 coming in the 3rd quarter.
Pro City continues Thursday night with N.I.K.E. 1 taking on defending-champ PDG Queensbridge. Tip-off is set for 6:30.

wow young ballers who cares???rememebr 4 years ago at the Rucker when Smush didnt even get off the bench. You guys gotta be kidding me.A bad day at the Rucker would be if u saw Jr Smith or Richard Jefferson. Now ur lucky to see Best Kept and A butta play.Sad.Very Sad.Pro City never used to be whack and now it is.People like Dwight Hardy,Mike Tuitt and Momo don’t even play at Pro City.Let them stick to their Tri State and Watson Classic games.Very good games at Pro city Brooklyn??Obviously u weren’t there last year. The regualar New York guys havent been showing like Mike Campbell and Homicide.I find it hard to believe that watching Jc Mathis going up against Andre Duncan is real riveting basketball. What was your key matchup in the nightcap Stixx vs the Beast??come on lets get serious now.Smush is no big deal either.Last week Pro city was already poppin during week 2.We’ll see Tommorow and next week who plays.

Pro City will be very good this year. Dyckman and the Uptowners had a game go down to the wire and so did the XMEN and United Brooklyn. No lead is safe in Pro City. The battle of the boro game was exciting though, with Smush Parker, Anton Dobie, Mike Haynes, Tommy Gunz, The Beast and Rob Battle suiting up for XMEN going against Murder Kill, Stixxs, Jerel Blassingame and Slim Lloyd.

I kinda agree with TP. The problem to me is that there are way too many tournaments poppin off at the same time, and as a result we are seeing a lot of watered down basketball.

patt which t’ments to u r watered down and which ones arent watered down to u
June 25th, 2009 at 12:29 am
Kenny Patt says:
@ Raymond,
They all became watered down over the last few yrs, because so many new ones popped off in addition to established ones, forcing great players to make tough choices on which games to play. I’ve seen guys worn down, or rarely play in some games. Its overkill and the tourneys are all in stiff competition for the best players. They often schedule games @ the same time now, and that was rarely the case yrs back. The ballers still ball, but its too spread out now. If the tournaments all worked together, you will get a better brand of hoops overall

Let the new wave of guys in w/ the mesh of vets who still have it. There’s leagues for everybody. Know & accept where you belong. Also a lot of players and teams want to play in pro city and all the other big tournaments. Some of it is politics. Also the talent level isn’t the same. We’re trying to keep it going. Basketball just isn’t the same as it used to be. We used to all think we had a shot at the league and worked and played from dusk till dawn. These kids are so pampered and given the world way to soon. Which leads to the pre-madonna attitude.
Everything comes full circle though. It will change for the better. I also think all these big tournaments need that new guy, face. New team/Coach. You need an added element of suprise. It gets boring seeing the same faces especially after they’re games aren’t the same. What makes a lot of these tournaments good are the college and high school kids who are hungry and have something to play for. Again help pave the way for the newcomers dont stagnate the game you grew up loving. Do what other did for you 2 get you into the position you are know. How quick we forget. It’s what’s wrong wth the league or any overly polictically driven system.

@sure youre right, seein new talent is good, like last summer HITS and some others had kemba, cab driver, mglover, burrell, hardy, lance, jiggy josh, momo jones etc but like u said meshing young with vets is still cool, bball isnt the same as before but doesnt mean its wack or not entertaining, its cyclical and its a new era basically

No knocks on the guys who play at Pro City. They are all real.Mostly D-1 talent making money overseas or some with Nba Experience like Norm Rich and Smush.I know they can play but the games have been dead to me thats all.I enjoy watchin the ballers like 2 hard or Antifreeze go to work but not when they are “the highlight” of the game.Mesh them in with a couple of other guys on their level with the occasional Nba-er and u get great basketball like last years Queensbridge team.I hope Pro City isn’t like this all summer because it will be whack if its anything like the first two days.Fireball run by Ricky Rivers had much more talent as a whole than Nike Pro so far but like you guys said it doesn’t get poppin til llater so we shall see.As for all this young baller talk none of those guys really play at Hunter other than young Glover so it is totally irrelevant.Ive seen Cab driver go for 60 at HITS but in a game at Nike Pro does he even get the ball that much at Pro City to put those big time numbers up if he plays.I know the dude can score Ive seen him at Seton Hall kill but Im sayin Pro city is the best of the best and so far its looking real regular.Ill get my fix of all the youngans at the other tournaments but when I come to Nike Pro I wanna see the big time talent incorporated with everything else. That United Brooklyn squad they put out there was god awful. The other tournaments and times play a factor but not as much as it used to with Tri State now on the weekend.During the week its just W4,Pro city,Dyckman, and Ebc with HITS,Watson,Lower East side, and Tri state taking over the weekend so it should be decent all over.
