(In my best Santogold impression) “Broooookllllllllllllyn We Gooooooooo Haaaaaaaard”
Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls and my fellow Brooklynites. The Brooklyn Report is finally here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ever since I started working with Bounce Magazine, it seems like Brooklyn Basketball does not get as much love in the summertime. Even though Brooklyn ballplayers come to different boroughs throughout New York City and sometimes destroy the competition, we still don’t get no respect at times. I love New York but I am Brooklyn guy with a Brooklyn game.
The Brooklyn Report is a blog that will have interviews on basketball tournaments, players or what is relevant to the basketball community throughout the best borough with the best basketball players and that is (my best Jay-Z impression) “Brrrrrrroooooookkklllllllyyynnnnnn”. If you have a tournament or league that you would like covered to be put on The Brooklyn Report you can contact me at RCMillard5@tmo.blackberry.net or RMillard1@gmail.com
Remember people………(Just read the words below on the picture)
Big ups and Shout outs:Much love to everyone who came home from playing professional basketball overseas (Mookie, D.P., Eugene Lawrence and others;if I missed you I apologize) , the collegiate basketball players who completed their freshmen year of playing to one’s who graduated (Levance Fields),Horse (We are here son!!!!!!) the high school ballplayers, the little shorties who be in the parks ready to play rain and shine and lastly the lovers on the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Randy,
BK all day!
I would love to see some major tournaments in Brooklyn.
I remember watching Booger Smith play, reading Heaven is a Playground, and viewing Soul in the Hole clips.
Keep it Brooklyn b/c your borough is overshadowed by Manhattan, Harlem, and Bronx tournaments…bring it back!
The Brooklyn Report is in the building!!

Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love says:
“still got no respect at times?” we all had this discussion last year–when does brooklyn not get the respect it deserves? for real. how can you say that. i’ll have to look up how i responded in ‘08, but Booger and Tillary Park was on the cover of SI, for Bounce Mag more Brooklyn borough players have graced our covers than any other borough (think Lance, Junie, Sebastian and Ethan Telfair, so on), Lincoln HS has taken the last 7 of 8 PSAL chips, SOUL IN THE HOLE doc was all about Kenny’s Kings from Bed-Stuy, on the subject of greatest playground legends of all time it always comes down to joe hammond (harlem) and fly williams (brownsville) . . .
i’m interested to know–when does brooklyn not get respect, randy? can you point out the reasons why you would say that? i’m interested to learn my brother!

Its intresting how lots of people talk about booger and shamgod but personally I think mookie deserves more respect, he has won chips in Nyc for years and overseas in the UK and most recently in the middle east, He is a genuine pg who you could put on a team anywhere and he will help you.

Every borough deserves to have a tournament as big as Tri-State,H.I.T.S, and so on. I hope one day it happens because it would be great for basketball. If you thing Brooklyn gets no love what about the Q-boro. I’m still a NYC guy and man I love all of our players from all over L.I.,S.I. It’s not about where your from it what you do on the court that brings a great amount of respect and notoriety to your borough. It’s a monster everywhere. Look at Sylven Landesburgh for example. You wouldn’t even know he plays basketball and he’s the goods. Might end up in the league next yr.

40 cal is right! My home court Rodney Park!!!… starts last week of this month…is probably one of the best outdoor tournaments in Brooklyn!! Also, dunkers delight in wingate, brooklyn Pro (funsport) and also tillary…But my home court Rodney is like the Brooklyn version of Dyckman…the crowd is ruff and they will talk trash if u don’t show up!!! Big ups to Bio commisioner of Rodney!!!! Talent lik, anti-freeze, mookie, karl sanders, undertaker, homicide, baby shack, bone collector…I can keep goin!!! Its Real out here!!
