Sean Armand dominated the game on both ends yesterday for the NJ Trail Blazers.
After NJ Trail Blazers point guard Sean Armand’s full-court defense forced Bridge & Tumel Club to take a timeout at West 4th Street Thursday evening, the 17-year-old uttered three simple words at a noticeably frustrated B & T player: “Don’t get mad.” But with the non-stop pressure Armand applied on both ends of the floor, it was hard not to.
The Daily News second-team all-city selection scored a game-high 30 points and forced several B & T turnovers to lead the Trail Blazers to an 82-74 win.
Armand, who earned the honor while running the point for Jacqueline Onassis HS, blew past B & T defenders with ease, often getting to the bucket for two or assisting a teammate.
Qa’rraan Calhoun, the beneficiary of many of Armand’s dishes, added 17.
Christian Stevens dropped 25 for Bridge & Tumel Club.
X-Men will begin its West 4th title defense Friday night, weather permitting. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

Kapp, 1st off thanks for the props on our team, but you got the wrong team. We are the NJ Trailblazers (not Rosedale). Sean is a real good young man out of Fort Green BK who is way under the radar. As you can see he can flat out ball and can play with anyone. Sean is a big time scorer as in HS, 1s8 and AAU ball he has had several games of over 40 points and a few over 50. He is headed to Patterson Prep in NC next year and with his continued hard work he will end up at a major D1 program. Sean plays mainly the 2G spot for us as our Pg’s who are also under the radar are the hard nosed Marcus Johnson (former Boston U player) and Darius Garland.
So far we are 2-0 at W4th and hope to put in some more work this summer. Keep an eye on us as we are the youngest team in the mens Pro/Am with several HS kids and no one on the team over 22. Besides our quick G’s of Sean, Marcus and Darius we have some tough guys up front such as former St. Johns F Qa’rrann Calhoun, Kamel “the man/child” Broughton and another HS player in Dejuan williams. Thanks again for the props on the NJ Trailblazers!

This kidd is 17 playing the pro league at west 4th!!! He already came out showing he can ball with the best of them , he shows he can shoot ,pass and defend, and it says a lot about him when his fellow older teammates don’t mind listening to him for leadership. So I tip my hat off to Sean Armand.. Someone needs to get this kid expoused and good luck at Patterson Prep in NC.
June 6th, 2009 at 5:32 am
jhblazer says:
BBaller, we have sent tapes to a ton of colleges to get him exposure and people are finally starting to take notice. The main problem is he did not play at a big name HS. He lead us to Championship at the Providence Jam Fest by putting up almost 40 points per game. The coach at Patterson who has sent tons of players to colleges and 9 to the NBA is putting the word out to several Big East schools as he has told us Sean can play at the high D1 level.
As u said he shoot, pass and defend. He is turning into a complete player and his older teammates listen to him like u said because of how hard he plays the game. If he continues to work hard, which I have no doubt he will then he will be on his way to big things in the next few years.

Truth be told, thats only week one at west 4. The question is can he put up 30 against X men, United Brooklyn, Uninvited Guest, 1/3 the champs(sean bell), Money Inc etc… A new team playing a new team at west 4 means nothing, but when a new team enters and beats a team in there prime then I’m impressed. Besides west 4 is more water’d down than a harlem nutcracker. Big shot out to 40 plus in harlem.

June 7th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
jhblazer says:
40 Cal, its week 2 at W4th and 17yr old Sean put up those same type of numbers during a 40 point win in the 1st week. We are not saying we are world beaters but we feel if we are on top of our game we can hang with most teams. Our team is by far the youngest team in the mens division as half of our team is made up of HS kids. No one on our team is over 22 so we look at this as a good learning experience and if we can win some games along the way then its icing on the cake. You are right in that we will see how we do against some of the name teams like your boys United Brooklyn, who by the way lost their 1st game last week. But we look forward to playing teams like them, X-Men, Money Inc., etc cause it will only help our young players develop their games. I am not saying we will beat these teams cause they all have a big edge in experience, but one thing for sure is our team will back down from no one as we play with a ton of heart! And as far as Sean goes all I can tell you is just watch and you will see why he is the real deal. U have a good one.

40 oz, you hatin on my young cuz Sean. The boy got mad game. Have you seen him ball? If you dont think he got mad game its because you drunk off dem 40’s. All dez old heads got on him is strength which he will build up in college. Hey 40z do it make you feel better about ya self to put down a 17yr old? Quit hatin, because when you see him blowing up in college don’t be jumping on the bandwagon cuz I will boot ya azz off, son! Yo Trev Kapp thx for showing my young cuz some luv.

T-Roc-
i appreciate the support. i don’t think 40 cal’s trying to start anything though- he’s just saying he’d be interested to see sean against very tough competition, which will happen on friday. will sean be up to the challenge? my guess is yes, but we’ll see. that’s all i think 40 cal is getting at.

I’m not going to get into a shouting match with no one lol and no ones hating(we don’t do that at bounce)For the past 6 years at west 4 I have seen guys drop 30 in the first second and third week on teams that are new and come back and do nothing when they play against the people they should really be dropping 30 on. When he proves himself I will beleve but until then sorry if I’m putting out the truth. I love west 4 been playing there for years and if you ask anyone out there the first month means absolutly nothing cause everyone is just getting home from overseas or school and getting situated, you would know this if you actually watch ball on the streets and have a knowlege for it beyond hot sauce and the proffesor, no disrespect but learn about the leauges before you make comments about people who know what the hell there talking about.
P.S I don’t drink 40’s not my style, I’m more of a henny and cranberry man and truth be told he should already be in the gym now pumping iron at his age not waiting for college, dont take it from me, ask anyone who played some sort of College ball.

T-Roc says:
Trev Kapp thanks. Yeah you prob right bout 40. I just dont see how he can talk bout a kid he neva seen. I hope Sean an his team can do well but I know X-men might be too much for them since I saw X-men last year an dey grown men and got a big team. I will keep an eye out for u an 40. If yall see me give me a shout, I be bout 6″3″ with a fro, brown skin an im 38. So when dis United BK play I wanna check out da team from my hood.

Saying he needs to be in the weight room now, is advice, hitting the weights will only make his game sharper so what are you talking about? If your looking for me I’m playing for Uninvited Guest at west 4, if you cant do manhattan I’m in gunhill playing for coach du, cant go there find me at the k1x lower manhattan classic playing for issacs legends. Just to let you know this is NYC and if you cant take the HEAT get out of the kitchen, I’m all for this Kid but he aint proven! If he goes out there and proves himself, you never know I might be able to get him in better tournamnets in the tri state, show me somthing and I make a few phone calls but I want YOU T-ROC TO UNDERSTAND SOMTHING, INSULTING REPORTERS WILL NOT WORK IN YOUR FAVOR. It makes people such as scouts thinking he’s hanging around the wrong people, not saying your the wrong person around him you might be the best person in his LIFE, but people see that and take that under consideration and then pass on the guy who deserves the spot compared to the guy who dosen’t. Think about it.

JH says:
40 Cal, I talked to Sean an this T-roc guy is not his cousin as Sean does not know who he is, he is probably just some internet tough guy, LOL! Anyways, I can tell you that Sean is a very humble, hard working young man and if he ever met you he would shake you hand and show you respect like he does all adults. So don’t hold it against him because of what some loud mouth is saying on the net. I bet if you ask your boy Kapp he will tell you Sean was very respectfull to him when they spoke. We look forward to playing X-men because we know they are a big time team. As I said before they have a big edge in experience and size since they all play pro ball and our team is made up of mostly HS kids and only 3 college players. You would expect a bunch of pros to beat a team of HS kids, so as far as im concerned we have nothing to lose and upsets do happen. We look forward to Friday because we want to play the top comp and improve our games. I can’t tell you what will happen but I guarante you our team will go all out and play with a ton of heart! One last thing about Sean is that all he cares about is winning. He could care less if he has 30 points or 3 points cause he plays for the team 1st and not himself. See you Friday.
June 8th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
40 Cal says:
Im not holding anything against him, I’m not that kind of person. I feel for what Sean came from, a high school not known for ball and having alot of talent but being overlooked cause of not being in the right school, I been there, matter fact I know alot of people who have been down that road. All I was saying is he has not played comp yet and 30 points does not impress me unless you do it in the games that count, that’s just my opinion. He has a long summer ahead and were probly going to be at every game now with the hype surrounded by all of this, I dont wanna put no pressure on your boy but If he shows up and kills I’ll be the first one to go interview him so he can get that extra edge. My main thing is to look out for anyone who takes this game serious, people who deserve to be featured, the guys that eat, sleep and S*&$ this game.Contact me personaly at 40calW4@gmail.com

JH- sean was, in fact, very respectful when i met him and did shake my hand. i think 40 cal makes some good points as well in that we do have to wait and see. everyone’s gotta be patient though. the summer, like the nj blazers, is young and full of possibilities.
p.s. i don’t know anyone, other than 40 cal, who calls me kapp haha. i’d rather go by trev or trevor if you all don’t mind.

So what happens if he shows up on friday? And what happens if he doesn’t? Please I want to no
June 8th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
JH says:
Trevor, my bad. Have a good one.
Jumper, maybe he plays well friday and maybe he does not as everyone has bad games even NBA stars, but with a 17 yr old u never know. But the key is Sean is doing everything he has to do on the court and in the classroom so that he can use BB to get a free college education.
June 8th, 2009 at 9:28 pm
Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love says:
wow.
okay, read all the comments.
30 points is 30 points. Trevor didn’t write that the kid is the next Derrick Rose or Kemba Walker. He simply reported that a 17-year-old scored a lot of buckets in an unlimited division of an extremely well-known tournament. i think that’s news worthy. definitely. if I was Sean, I’d feel good about it. Of course, it’ll be interesting to see how he fares against more established comp. In the meantime in between time, let him breathe. He’s 17 and becoming a young man. 40 Cal wrote a lot of really helpful advice to him to get him prepared, which I’m certain if he made 2nd team All-City, he already is. I wish him the best of luck and look forward to seeing him play, and hopefully getting a chance to compete against him, this summer.
peace

It’s not the end of the world if he does not play well on friday but I’m pretty sure with all the hype surrounding this you have the X-men’s radar up(Vern), hopefully Sean will read this in school tommorow, Dont get caught up in all this, play your game the way you play the game, X-men is just a name there human just like us and bleed the same blood which makes you just as dangerous.
P.S I think we play you guys next.
