The Hangar Athletic Xchange in Los Angeles held its first inaugural “Memorial Day Blast” featuring the top high school teams and players on the West Coast. HAX has begun to create a name for itself as the new “Mecca of Athletic Training;” training grounds to the likes of professional athletes Lamar Odom, Dwight Howard, Trevor Ariza, Gary Soto, Paul Pierce, Luke Walton, Sinjin Smith, and many others. Built from a 50-year-old airport hangar, the 10 million dollar Hangar Athletic Xchange hosted 120 teams overall in the weekend long tournament, the festivities concluded with a dunk contest where 6 foot Centennial High School guard Deonta Burton dunked over a 7 footer.
The Hanger also hosted the “Just Say No” Summer League that was featured in Bounce #17. First team All-Star’s were Taj Gibson, T.J. Smith, DeMar DeRozen, Jeff Pendergraph, Austin Daye. Player of the year: Darren Collison and Newcomer of the Year: (tie) Malcolm Lee and Clay Thompson.
