Corey “Homicide” Williams made the cover of Townsville Bulletin Sport after his 28-point performance in Townsville’s upset win over Perth two weeks ago. Mr. 187 led Townsville to a deciding Game 3 on Saturday night against the South Dragons, but managed just 10 points as the team’s season came to a close.
He doesn’t have a shaved head or braids. Nor does he rock Nike or Adidas. His post-game interviews aren’t full of clichés. In many ways, Corey “Homicide” Williams is a rebel on the basketball court. The former Alabama State standout, however, might just be exactly what Australia’s NBL needs.
In many ways, Homicide and the NBL are a match made in heaven. Homicide is looking for a place to shine and garner enough recognition to land an NBA gig—something he nearly did when he was the Toronto Raptors’ last cut before the 2005-2006 season. The NBL is looking for a new face of the league—something it has struggled to find since Andrew Gaze’s retirement in, you guessed it, 2005.

Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love says:
geez, what is he gonna pull this summer when he gets back to nyc? seems like he just keeps getting better, and with overseas experience like he’s building in crocodile land, his confidence must be going out the roof . . .
