Durant and Beasley at Goodman in D.C.

I got a request from one of our loyal on-line responders to make a TOP 10 list of the greatest moments on the playground last summer. And so with some assistance from some playground experts, I’m about to set it off.

10. Brandon Jennings at EBC – Young Money plays in his first official EBC game.

09. Mike Glover scoring 100 points in 2 games at Hoops in the Sun.

08. John Wall’s left-handed dunk at Elite 24 @ Rucker Park – Came down with the left-hand and leapt like superman with the left-hand yoke that brought the park to its feet.

07. PR Pride scoring 178 points in an non-overtime game at Hoops in the Sun.

06. Mike Beasley at Pro-City – B-easy dropped 39 in the second half for Gold’s Gym.

05. “Sponge Bob” going for 52 against Kevin Durant and Mike Beasley in D.C.

04. Corey “Homicide” Williams’ week of 40 (four games straight). – Caught Artest and Smush at Pro-City for 2 games and then did it at Together We Chill and out in Queens.

03. Antawn “Anti-Freeze” Dobie scoring 88 points in two games at Nike Tournament of Champions.

02.Ron Artest – Everywhere, at every tournament in NYC last summer.

01. Kenny Satterfield scoring 68 at Hoops in the Sun breaking the scoring record. The “Cab Driver” scored 65 and Andre “3000″ Barrett had 66 in the same summer at Orchard Beach.

Honorable Mention:

Andre Barrett’s play all summer.

The scoring of the “Cab Driver.”

Corey Fisher playing at Dyckman all summer.

Joe Pope and Julio Alvarez on the mic at the Tri-State All-Star Game – Some of the best mc-ing I’ve ever heard. They came fast and furious like Wall Street traders, crazy flavor.

  3. Mr. Dimes says:

What about Ron Ron getting his tooth knocked out, picking it up, putting the tooth in his sock and running back to get on D?

  4. Sean Couch says:

Part of Ron being everywhere on the playground…that was included in Bounce Edition #16’s story on Ron’s 2008 experiences.

  5. Elliot Rosado says:

What about the return of Shamgod Wells. He had everyone at Tri-State shook.

  6. Sean Couch says:

The return of Shammgod was a tremendous moment, Elliot, he did his thing at Tri-State Classic and should’ve been down.

and don’t forget about the new fella tearing up the goodman in dc. they call him p-shiddy cause when he showed up with the ill mohawk before anyone knew his name, they said he looked like puff when he ran the nyc marathon.

kid’s name is gerald brown, went to providence and then transferred to loyola where he was one of the top scorers in the country. played for my man rodney coffield ( who played under bob wade at dunbar right before muggsy got there, the head coach at douglass high school in b-more (which was featured in that very sad hbo documentary).

look out for p-shiddy, who was given the names by miles rawls, the commish of the goodman, because of his penchant for defecating on cats. him and kevin durant had the ill battle this summer. durant gave him 62, but shiddy gave him about 40.

great summer indeed sean. thanks for the quick highlight recap.

Antawn “Bacpack” Dobie performance was unreal. Even in the Tri-State Chip he was bugging with three 2 3’s back to back and a And 1 lay up in the closing minutes and then help seal it in overtime. People was saying he was overrated. Could of got Co players of the summer with the icon. Mike Campbell should have been etched on this list too. Although him killing is the norm. Its crazy how we as fans just expect greatness at all times. What’s crazier is some people actually maintain at such a high level. He definitely is a N.B.A. guard a la Flip Murray. He could start for the Knicks now and contribute right away. He’s like the Kobe/Melo of Streetball with his IQ. He literally does what he wants. Imagine he was a nut or just plain the most Aggresive Non stop attacking and coolest dude of the court killer Homo is. He’d avg 50 + w/out sweating. Young dudes watch him play the way it supposed to be played. Limited weakness. He remind me of Joe Johnson.

My honorable mention goes out Ryan”Special Fx” Williams flying all over the place and arguably being the most improved player of the summer Also to Ryan”Special One” Williams and Daryll Showtime Hill being one of the top duos(Maybe the best) in Hunter”Pro City”College. along with Mr.Artest. Definitely the most exciting. Lastly for T2 lookig like a N.B.A. starting 3 the whole summer. Cab driver also is bugged out. Mike Glover is a budding Star. Beasley and Brandon Jennings & M.Williams playing on the aspahlt.

Homicide is like D.Wade and A.I put together from NY.

  10. Sean Couch says:

Mike is one of my favorite players. He has his moment as the man everyday when you see him on the site, on the cover to the right of the blog.

Mike one-on-one game speaks for himself, his overall game has gotten better with time.

  11. raymond says:

sean i see your crew works pretty fast lol, i have 2 agree with the list that you guys came up with, #1 kenny sat i agree plus the fact that barrett had 66 in the same game cuz they were on the same team which make it even crazier, artest gettin chips everywhere (dyckman, hits, pro city) and glover scoring 100 points in two games was unbelievable, great talent, maybe sham’s return culdve been up there cuz its been a while..

  12. Sean Couch says:

The Glover 100 was back to back, same weekend Ray. It was an explosive summer, scoring wise.

  13. Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love says:

summer ‘08 already feels like a long time ago, i can’t wait for June ‘09–it’s gonna be a toasty oven! lotta dudes got stuff to prove, whether they can maintain or where just flash in the pans

  14. Sean Couch says:

No doubt, looking forward to seeing more college players going against the veterans and maybe a few more NBA pros coming out and playing regularly.

  15. paul smith us says:

Many people have alos become fans of Paul Smith Shoes since they came into the market. I also one of them , I very like Paul Smith Wallets and Paul Smith Belts,It designs very good.
