Salvador water, Brazil
While Bob was getting his multi-cultural action on in Brazil, the Bounce Magazine squad held it down in the SBL (Park West HS on 50th Street between 10th & 11th aves) on Sunday. We got off to a slow start while our opponents made it rain 3’s early and often. We trailed by double-digits in the second half and it didn’t help us that the sideline heckling was at maximum decibels. Or did it?
Thanks to about a 4 minute stretch of dominance led by Matt, our center, cleaning up the glass, finishing inside and even steppin’ out to show his range and drain a trey bomb, we were able to put together a run so demoralizing that it deflated the other team and silenced the hecklers! Marc’s veteran leadership and court vision led to plenty of easy buckets. I don’t think they keep statistics beyond points, but if I had to guess I’d say Marc had at least 14 dimes on Sunday. Dre was able to get in the lane at will, breaking down the defense regularly. On one play he charged at the defense and hit ‘em with a mean stop-and-pop J from the elbow that was pure! Our opponents’ trash talk and the relentless heckling from the sideline only fanned the flames that sparked our late run, which made the victory that much sweeter. We ended up winning by double figures.
It’s win-or-go-home on Sunday 12/14 as we ride the momentum of our late season winning streak into the playoffs.
