For the past couple weeks I’ve been raving about the young talent the New Jersey Nets have accumulated. In particular, the acquisition of Devin Harris has made the Nets a fast team. To have a guard that can conduct a one-man fast break, generate steals, run the high-hash screen and roll, and knock down the open jump shot has given the Nets an All-Star caliber replacement for Jason Kidd. His rise is reminiscent of the Kevin “KJ” Johnson trade to the Suns after Georgia Tech’s Mark Price won the starting point position in Cleveland. Harris, like Johnson, creates easy offense off the transition and finishes strong at the cup.
Future Hall-of-Famer and Mayor of Sacramento – Kevin Johnson
When you look at them both, each player has skills to finish over bigger defenders from difficult shot angles, they dunk over 7-footers, and generate offense from their defense. A
key indicator of a championship guard is the amount of steals and deflections they generate per game to go along with easy offense – uncontested shots and fast-break buckets. Harris also looks ready to be that knock-it-down jump shooter for the Nets, a key indicator of All-Star play. Look for Devin in the All-Star game this year.
Harris would be a terrorist up at EBC and Dyckman, based on his speed and finishing ability. It would be something to see him go up against someone like Corey “Homicide” Williams on the playground and earn that nickname uptown.

i love comparisons, it’s the way talent is fairly and sometimes unfairly evaluated. When players come along and
have different styles some teams are apprehensive to select them. It’s like that on the playground also. If a pro doesn’t have finishing ability outdoors there are some coaches that will not let them play…
I remember Elton Brand getting turned down at EBC because his game was to basic. He went downtown to Kingdome and turned it out.

you have a point with the comparisons. last night i was watching nba tv with ahmad, gp and cwebb (better than ernie, kenny and charles…its hard to not make comparisons) and ahmad said he felt deron williams was like walt frazier. so it made me compare the two.

Rondo or Harris? Whose faster. Dime mag posted a blog on the fastest guards with ball. I like Harris.

Neither are faster than parker. Or bassy if he’d just be him and take all that hype of his back & mind. Harris is ill. Rondo is steadily getting better around KG like R.Foye said the other day. KG passion & belief in him allowed him to expand and play better. I hated Rondo at Kentucky but I respect him now. He knows his role. Knowing your role and strengths and weaknesses. When you think otherwise you fail. Stick wth what works.

I think that Devin has quickly become one of the top 5 PG in the East. The kid can play defense on and off the ball, he can shoot, he takes it to the rack and finishes like a 2 guard, plus he’s not afraid to take over games. I think Dallas is is regretting making that deal. Granted, its not Kidds fault the team stinks, bcuz Kidd can still make players better, its just outside of Howard, Dirk (overrated) and Terry (aging) there team id not that good. Not to mention CP3 abused Kidd in the playoffs, I think Harris would have fared better. Harris is one of the fastest guys with the ball but i’d put my money on Monta Ellis, maybe even Derrick Rose, that kid is going to be something else…..
