Soul In The Hole Coach Shot Uncategorized / Oct 29, 2008 / 4:52 pm

Bounce Magazine contributor Geroy Grant just hit us with this info:

Kenny Jones, the Kenny’s Kings Coach from the Soul in the Hole documentary, is in critical condition after an “unfortunate incident.” He was shot multiple times during an altercation last week, and is currently in the intensive care unit. People may want to send a prayer to the most high for him . . .”

We’ll try to find out more. Bounce sends our best wishes to “Booger” Smith, Anthony “Biz” Heyward, Charles Jones, and the rest of the original Kenny King’s squad that was featured in the movie.

My condolences go out to his wife Ronnett and the rest of his family including Booger and the other players he’s coached. I hope he pulls though! Great (and exciting) coach who would be a huge loss for his community.

Regardless and unclear of the circumstances surrounding what happened in this particular situation is completely irrevelant…It continues to be extremely disturbing for me to read or see that shooting a fair one today actually means resorting to shooting a firearm in an unfair, senseless and life altering or life ending manner as a way of settling disagreements, arguments, disputes or simply because one feels disrespected…It truly sickens and bothers me to say this but I honestly don’t believe it will ever change beause the society in which we live today has allowed things to get so far out of control…I just hope and pray that a new change brings with it a remedy and solution not just simply talking about trying to stop the violence but instead doing so. At the same time taking a serious and concious look at the root cause of problem must be addressed as well in order for us to head into the right direction …Far to many innocent, decent, honest hard working people, children and families are being seriously and adversely affected in our country, cities, urban areas, communities, schools, churches and even on our bball courts, etc. As was the case in my prior comments on Bobitto’s well done piece on Prostate Cancer I’m sure we all know someone directly or indirectly affected by random violence. I know we all remember the horrific death of Michael Jordans right (not to mention Jennifer Hudsons family). I don’t know Kenny Jones but this is sadly another vey unfortunate story and it must stop. It is said that mind is a terrible thing to waste which makes sense and is so true but when a person has lost that and see’s no way out and believe’s that another person’s life is worthless indicates to me that we have all have a lot work to do. This is about saving lives both young old. Let’s all pray for this brother’s life!

Correction: I believe the prior article I cited should have been on Colon Cancer as well as Michael Jordans father who was the victim of another senseless and random act of violence…stay safe ouit there
