With all the Jordan Collezione packs releasing this year, I thought I’d show a comparison between original and retro in the premier of THEN AND NOW. One of my personal favorite Jordan models of all time is the Carmine colorway of the Air Jordan VI. Featuring a crazy upper with a hidden 23, strategically punched holes, icy soles, and that smooth Carmine nubuck make this baby a classic. The originals hit in November of ‘91 and ironically XVII years later the retros dropped in the 2-pack with the AJ 17. After all the begging, pleading and petition signing, the much anticipated release date came on May 24 when the 6/17 hit Eastbay and other retailers. After the long, strenuous wait, I couldn’t help but buy 2. One to keep on ice and the other…to keep on ice.

Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love says:
every time i see these i think of prime minister pete nice of def jam group third bass. he had a pair and would finesse them lovely, also had a decent game that many hip hop heads knew nothing about. pete was all brooklyn queens 1st team his senior year at bishop ford high school, and got recruited by vanderbilt, wound up at columbia instead, then left basketball behind and pursued his rap career! smart move!

Way to drop the knowledge Kool Bob! Thanks for sharing, I’d have a memory for you on these but when they dropped in ‘91 I was six years old…

Pete Nice is one of my favorite mc’s of all time. I was surprised when I read that he went to Columbia in your book, Bob. First and possibly only ivy league mc ever?!? Does he still play Bob and is he still a sneaker head??
Anyways, not to thread jack, thanks for the comparison. Carmine is also one of my favorite jordans of all time. I havent copped the retros yet but plan on doing so.
