Even “grassroots” AAU initiatives require sunlight to achieve maximum growth.
So, while the rest of the amateur circuit plans to make clichéd stops in sweatbox gymnasiums throughout domestic tourist traps – Orlando and Vegas – the EBC is inviting the nation’s premier AAU teams to square off on a revered outdoor patch of NYC asphalt on 155th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard.
That’s right folks, you heard it here first.
The EBC is excited to announce its 1st Annual Summer Invitational AAU Basketball Tournament for boys and girls at the famed Rucker Park from June 29 – July 2, 2009. Spawned from the creative vision and determined efforts of EBC founder and figurehead, Greg Marius, this sanctioned event will host teams in age groups ranging from 8-under to 17-under and will follow current AAU game rules.
Stay tuned for details and don’t forget to block out the dates on your iPhone and Outlook calendars. This is a must-see EBC production.

ebc has always involved kids, can remember a young rafer alston, irv aka i’ll be right back, a butta, molloy ‘future’ nesmith, on adn on all playing while still in high school and holding their own against men, and that includes lance stephenson in more recent years. having top youth going against their peers is a great idea. i’ve announced the elite 24 the last 3 years at rucker park, and every high school all-american drools at the opportunity to play at ‘55th, as i’m sure many aau teams that will draw as well. are they gonna have different unis? save me some shorts! haha! and bring back the ebc celeb game–i miss those, they were fun in ‘05 and ‘06 at the garden.
