Building on their “It Takes 5ive” initiative from ’07, the Three Stripes has crafted the Commander and Creator lines. The former is inspired by players who dominate in the paint and have an unwavering leadership quality in the locker room in the huddle and off the court. Tim Duncan and Dwight Howard are distinguished by the aforementioned characteristics and were both rewarded with their own pair of Team Signature Commanders.
On a technological front, the Commander is Adi’s first foray into adiWear and adidasM20, two installments that should perceptibly improve performance as a collective whole. M20 is the conspicuous line of triangular stitching that envelopes the model’s forefoot panel and toebox. In short, the stitched reinforcements act to mitigate harsh lateral movements. ‘Wear is adidas’ fresh take on practical branding—peep the Three Stripes strategically positioned along the midfoot—they actually act as lateral support elements, too! Cushioning is provided via the versatile Select System which allows the wearer to select their go-to feel underfoot. Up top, the Commander features an articulated ankle strap. When the sneaker drops in stores later this month, be sure to check the “Superman” detailing on Dwight’s pair. If you can’t wait that, the first two installments from adidas’ ’08 Hoops line are available at shopadidas.com.

Jeremy,
Aside from the aesthetics of the shoes, could you describe, in the future, what type of ball player could make the most use of the sneaks. For instance, add something about a shoes weight, is it light for those who are slashers or heavy for those who are flatfooted or stable for those with small ankles, etc.
