According to a NY Times article, Brandon Jennings is leading his Italian Pro League Virtus Roma squad with 20 ppg during the first five pre-season games. He also got kicked out of practice one day for not cutting hard enough on a drill (the coach also heads the Croatian National Team and is helping BJ develop into a mature pro). Read the piece here.

While not as significant or brazen as his decision to dabble in Roma, BJ also reintroduced the gumby and high-top fade. He is a trendsetter that will continue to leverage his dynamic personal brand to supplement his playing salary. Looking forward to watching him in the NBA.

Pete Casey I agree with your statements,as well as college isn’t for everyone(at 18 or 19).Its good to know that there are other options. I hope it continues to work out for him,and I will be looking foward to seeing him light it up next year in the league

I feel Brandon’s European vacation will open the flood gates, for other preps. The move underscores how ineffective the NBA’s rule is in ameliorating the college game. I wish him continued success and hope that he focuses on maturing, to take full advantage of the imminent NBA opportunity.

I think going to europe will do him justice because he will grow and be mature enough to handle the NBA. And he have chance to provide money for his family. The thing we forget is colleges are making millions of dollars off these kids and some of these kids come from bad living stands. It’s not about the money but its about making better life for your family. Rock on Mr. Jennings

I’m not that familiar with the NBA’s salary rules for rookies. Is it possible that coming to the NBA next year could translate into a substantial salary cut for Jennings? Not only am I not sure what he’d make as a rookie, but I also have no idea what he’s making now.

Although Brandon is definitely setting a trend the real credit goes to Sonny Vacarro. Here it is so many years later and he continues to change the game! It’s amazing what he has contributed to the overall business of basketball and I am truly how one individual can wield his septor for so long. I say envious and not jealous because I appreciate his thought processies respect what he has brought to the table. But it’s so simple that it makes you wonder, “Why didn’t I think of that!?”

True, true Feets.Sonny is an innovator and the real trendsetter in all this.He continues to make himself relevant even when they try to shut him down.Sonny bleeds orange leather & asphalt chips.Especially in these crucial economic times I don’t see why a player with good support, charisma & talent not take advantage of this opportunity if its presented to them.In a way it is like life experience that helps with your maturity.

The article say’s he will earn 1.2M…I’ve heard second hand accounts about the good, the bad and the ugly side of Sonny Vaccarro….that’s not for me to judge…in this instance he has certainly offered Jenning’s and his family an option which they seem happy with for now…I agree and believe this will become a trend for only the most gifted of the select H.S stars…The NBA and Stern will continue to conduct business as usual…I don’t believe there is really not much they can do…Jennings will be a star and I would love to see him play at MSG
