Playing at The Cage.
July 24t was my penultimate day in NYC… and one of the best. I went to The Cage to watch the Rock Steady Crew 31st anniversary (there were a streetball tournament and a B-boys battle). I arrived at the West 4th Courts just to watch the games because my man Bobbito was ready to play with his squad, but when I was in the park he asked me to run with they. I was wearing short jeans and AF1 low, but somebody gave me a bball shorts and I could play.
Jansy, Bobbito, me and Roman.
Our team was Artson (RSC b-boy), DJ Eclipse (Non Phixion), Jansy (Proyect Playground), Bobbito, Roman Perez a.k.a. The Gift and me. We got an easy W in the first game against Pack FM’s crew, but we had to sweat a lot to won the chip game against End of the Week (Bob hit a winner shot in the last possession). I played good, hit a couple of threes and made a couple of lay-ups. But my highlight was circling my hand around the ball in the middle of the traffic. Everybody screamed and went bananas!! I always will remind this play as my best streetball memory.
When the games were done and the b-boys battles had a champ, I went with Bob and Jansy to film an interview for Summerball show with the legendary b-boy Crazy Legs. We were watching how Crazy Legs taught breakdance to some people and then my man Jansy introduce me him. Was fun attend to a class of the best b-boy ever.
With Crazy Legs and Bob.
In the evening I had to choose between Dipset-Most Hated and 84th Street- Money Train at Tri-State Classic and Ron Artest at Nike Pro City. I finally went to 145th and Lennox Ave. because I preferred an outdoor game to say good bye to New York (anyway I can watch Ron Ron whenever I want on TV…).
I arrived early at the park and saw A-Butta shooting in the court. He was ready to play with Dipset! We were talking a little bit and I asked him about his battle against Vince Carter in 1999. Then I took a sit with my good friend Sherman Wing (Inside Streetball) and watched one of the most electric games in the week. Dipset was undefeated and had Rasco, The Magician and A-Butta in the team. Most Hated was the ‘home team’, with a marvellous Jiggy Josh in the court. Dipset won easy (116-103), but Jiggy Josh made the highlight of my trip! He made a double crossover and spin move with Rasco playing D and he felt down… It was crazy!! Everybody (the park was really really crowded) laughed of Rasco… It was so embarrassed for him.
A-Butta at the line.
The second game was Slick Rick’s 84th St versus Money Train. Junie Sanders, Darren Phillip and Antawn Dobie were too much for their rivals. Anyway I was talking about basketball with my man Sherm and I didn’t pay too many attention to the mach. At the end of the game I said goodbye to “Mr. InsideStreetball” and Mousey (I hope see you next year guys), and they gave me some gifts (more T’s, jerseys and uniform for my collect, jeje).
At night I went out to have dinner with my good friend “DP” and some friends of him so close to Times Square, and then I came back home walking… enjoying my favourite city in the World.
To be continued…

Antonio, you had the Midas touch during your trip in NYC. Everything you touched (streetball games, summerball interview, and Bobbito’s anytime/anyday workout) turned to gold. That’s great that you experienced the best of NYC, as it truly is a great city!
Much love to you Sose!
