The fourth annual Hoopfest went down last weekend at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School in the Vancouver suburb of Cloverdale. While there was a lot of talent all across the board, it was The School who came to Hoopfest loaded with offensive weapons. Start with tournament MVP and Douglass College standout Graeme McCallum, who was a scoring machine all weekend. McCallum can thank School quarterback Randy Nohr for his MVP award. Nohr, who was the ‘08 Dolphin MVP is an incredible passer and probably averaged 15 dimes a game in the tourney. Douglass College star Bol Kong and the explosive 5-9 guard for Trinity Western University, Louis Hurd, also contributed nicely for The School.
Also in the tournament was University of Calgary alum Aman Heran, Neb Alesic and Justin VanLoo of the University of Alberta and Joey Haywood aka King Handles of And1 fame. In the end of the two day tourney, The School won their fourth straight Hoopfest title by defeating Team Sweet 121-109 in the championship.

Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love says:
oh, and donnie . . .
kenny patt is refering to a nyc player jeremy hazell, who most park announcers have nicknamed “cab driver” because of his resemblance to african immigrants in harlem who own and operate many of the car services here. it’s all in jest, and any player who steps on the court knows that the MCs are just trying to hype the crowd to make the game more entertaining. so kenny comparing bol’s skin tone to jeremy’s is not ignorant, especially since kenny is a person of color himself. hope that helps.

@ Bobbito
Aw man, I missed King Handles play! Hopefully Steve or somebody will be able to fill us in on how he did and his stats. Randy Nohr was a member of the 2000 Canadian National Team but was cut right before they went off to Sydney.

Bobbito, I think you would really like watching him play. I swear he can pass through a keyhole. He has some of the best court vision Id seen outside of the NBA.

CENTRECOURT says:
Hey All
Well, the 4th Annual HOOPFEST Tournament is officially in the bag. As noted, it was another great tournament, with “The School” capturing their forth straight title. With many of the who’s who in the Vancouver basketball community taking part, the HOOPFEST tournament reached another level in just it’s forth year. Over the course of the next week, I will have the official tournament game by game recap available on the CENTRECOURT website http://www.centrecourt.ca and will forward more key highlights to Bobbito and Gerald to let the BOUNCE fans know more about the tournament.
Thanks to Bobbito and Gerald for giving the tournament some national love, and for those who are interested in taking in the tournament as a team or fan, please feel free to check it out next year!
