BX Coach is in the Pitts! The Latest / Aug 28, 2008 / 9:55 am

The Bounce Magazine family is pleased to extend congratulations to Bronx (NY) native Rasheen Davis. The former Rice HS and New York Gauchos AAU assistant coach has recently been appointed to the Pittsburgh University Men’s Basketball staff.

Davis, who is now the program’s video coordinator, will be a very dangerous man in the Big East this upcoming winter season. As the reigning conference champs, everyone will be looking to dethrone the Panthers. Coach Davis’ expertise with game film, however, means scouting reports on each and every opponent that will help Head Coach Jamie Dixon’s crew flex their “Panther Power.”

We (the Bounce Mag fam) are happy for Coach Davis and wish him all the success at his new post. It’s just crazy how Rice HS and the ‘Choz are producing top level coaches/administrators to go along with the player factory they’ve been running for years!

back in the day, st. john’s had the city on lock. but over the last few years, pitt has been deep in nyc. and this trend will continue with Davis and his Rice and Gaucho pedigree. Beware the Newyorksburgh Panthers.

They had NY on smash since the Orlando Antigua era.

the st john’s heydey of grabbing the top kids out of ny was the erick barkley, ron artest, chudney grey squad in 1999 that lost to uconn in the elite 8. after that, it was all downhill

Jarvis killed that program when he thumbed his nose at recruiting NYC players and ended up bringing a lot of Mid – Major talent from out of state. Im not too high on the current coach. He is in over his head.
