Quinton “T2″ Hosley and Jason “J-Hi” McLeish celebrating their victory
The playoff action managed to somehow stay heated amidst an uncharacteristic freezing cold summer night at Dyckman (204th st./Nagle Ave.). The crowd was in full effect despite the sub-zero temperatures, watching their respective teams fight to keep their championship hopes alive.
The first quarterfinal game was Dominican Power vs. Dip Set. DP immediately took advantage of their shorthanded opponent. Baby Shaq and Franchise dominated the paint with a number of patented up-and-under moves, jumping out to a 14-4 lead. Dip Set looked as if they had no chance in this contest, but then DS got a dose of magic. Mike Wilson a.k.a “Mouse the Magician” arrived late and went to work as soon as he checked in. He and Antifreeze combined for 37 backcourt points to bring their Harlem squad within striking distance. By the end, however, it was Dominican Power who stood tall. Baby Shaq led all scorers with 26. Antifreeze had 24 for the losing squad. Final score: 69-60.
Game two action saw defending champs TNP take on Rodney Park. BK’s Mookie was a no-show in this match, but it didn’t seem to matter. Perry and Nesto used their chop handles to spin cycle pass defenders on their way to the buttercup. Darren Philips had the paint on lock, which made this contest seem fairly even. That was until “T2” was unleashed. Quinton Hosley put the bookbag on for TNP scoring 31 points for his crew. Mike Campbell suited up for RP, but did no damage as he finished with an uncharacteristic four points. Take No Prisoners advances to the next round.
Final Score: 69-56.

Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love says:
everyone should realize that scorers don’t put up big individual numbers at Dyckman because of the tough D and general offensive team spirited play led by Dominican Power and TNP were ball sharing, not clear-outs, are the norm. so the fact that T2 had 31 means a lot.

DP is tough to beat at Dyckman. The team to beat up there is the Harlem Baller’s with the fully stacked backcourt of Reem Reid and Kenny Sat.
