Bounce Reppin’ in Mozambique, Africa! / Aug 1, 2008 / 10:00 am

Hoops 4 Hope’s Marshall Cho sent us some wonderful photographs with a letter. Check it out!

(L-R) Nelson Jossias and Issufo Gulamo. Nelson is the National Team Under 20 captain. Standing at 6′6″, he possesses hops that compares to some of the best I’ve seen in Harlem . . . he’s still got some ways to go in the skills department, not to mention the weight room!

(L-R) Nelson, Issufo, and David Canivete. Nelson and David will both participate in the NBA sponsored Basketball Without Borders camp this year. David, in my mind, is the country’s best young players, possessing a variety of moves that even a savvy veteran would envy.

Issufo is sporting a Conrad McRae jersey donated through the Hoops 4 Hope program. He’s been living with me and my wife since January, and we’re trying to find him a spot (most likely a junior college on either coasts) in the U.S. He’s already overcome a lot in his life (losing a brother in a major flood in 2000, growing up without a biological father, etc.) to get to where he is. Considering he’s only been playing organized ball since January ‘08, and already has earned a starting spot on one of the country’s top teams, I’m hoping he’ll be able to find a good school for him by next summer.
