The three-headed monster of a backcourt with their coach Tony Rosa
I stopped over in Wash-Heights a few nights ago to take in some games at the Dyckman tournament and was treated to one heckuva guard show. Coach Rosa, who’s known for bringing the funk when it comes to floor generals, brought a young yet incredibly solid group to the tournament that night. Two D-1 products in Jamal Womack and Ryan “Special FX” Williams, as well as an up and coming dynamo in Ryan Salcedo, make up the three-headed monster that is the Mustangs’ backcourt.
This crew has got all aspects of the floor game covered. “J-Wo” provides the yo-yo and boogie ballhandling, “Special FX” the high-jumping and muscle for posting smaller cats, and “Problem Child” the Verizon Wireless type long distance range from trey land. All three have legit passing skills as well.
I definitely enjoyed watching them work together. They had great on-court chemistry and it showed in how effortlessly they ran the fastbreak scoring bucket after bucket. Are there other great or even better guard tandems around the city? ABSOLUTELY! This is just one BallGurl’s observation. It’s, however, a good look for Dyckman to have this type of talent in their tournament.
Leave your pick for who you think is a worthy backcourt in the response box!

i’m not just saying this cuz i’m boricua, but andre barrett and kenny satt in the backcourt for puerto rican pride up in hoops in the sun is just ridiculous. watching kendell ‘world premiere’ and ’skip’ aka ‘crossing guard’ together at kingdome was extremely entertaining though, especially cuz they both got yukon worthy yo yo status and enjoy playin for the crowd.
