UNSIGNED: RYAN KARDOK / Jul 16, 2008 / 8:00 am

As of right now, Ryan Kardok is not signed to a college. After doing quite well for two years at Broward Community College (Florida), you would assume he would have a school to attend for the following year.

Even though Kardok played a big role in leading his team to the states this past year, he is still left with no offers. There were quite a few schools that took interest, but due to the head coach’s decision at BCC towards the end of the year, some schools may have been scared away or not pursued as they should have. Usually, if you do what you’re supposed to and stick out the two years at a D1 juco, your coach finds you a place to play. That’s part of his job description last time I checked.

All you have to do is google Ryan Kardok’s stats for the past two years or take a look at some game footage to see that he’s what coaches are looking for. He’s solid. There’s no other way to describe it. His mid-range jump shot is wet, along with his three pointer. This past year, he improved considerably by being able to shoot three feet outside the three point line, plus nail jumpers off the dribble. He also has incorporated a New York handle, but a fundamental one with no wasted motion, trying to shake his defender just enough to get by. He can also take it strong to the rack and dish it out. That’s another thing that he’s fantastic at. For such a spectacular offensive player who can get off a shot anytime, he likes to play within the team and allow the game to come to him. He will never pass up an open shot (which is good, you shouldn’t), always looks to make the defense work by attacking, but is the first one to look for an open team mate. Bottom line is, that if someone has a better opportunity to score, he’s giving it up. I think most programs would like and respect that.

He also gets rebounds and hustles. Not a bad defensive player either being that he always contests shots and tries to beat guys to the spot. With so many quick and powerful guards these days, isn’t that all you can really ask?

I think Kardok would be a great addition to any college team low D1 or high D2. Any coach who’s interested in seeing any game footage or watching him play in person can email me at JosephVecsey@gmail.com

Anyone who follows my blog or knows me, understands that I’m not a fan of coaches. Most likely because I’ve never been blessed with a good one, but for all you college coaches out there, I just want to say one thing: You’re really missing out on a great player if you do not at least take a look at Ryan Kardok’s game.

There’s a reason he doesn’t have a scholarship to a D1, D2 program, and it’s not because of him. Good sportsmanship, good grades, hard worker on and off the court, and has the ability the lead any team which is lucky to have him to greatness. Great all around team player who is also willing to improve. Sounds too good to be true, but trust me, I’m the last person to go out of my way and give props to somebody. Real talk.

Ryan Kardok is unsigned and officially under the radar.

Googled his stats as you suggested. 6.5 ppg ? Maybe that’s why he’s under the radar.

  2. Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love says:

bring him to the Y, joe, so he can guard paul . . .

Stick to evaluating Chinese all you can eat restaurants

  4. CCB says:

Broward is a powerhouse JUCO so 6.5ppg is not telling it is a symptom of playing on a JUCO team that could give a low major a tough night any day of the week. Yo Joe, you know this is what I do with the website. He should’ve hit me up last year or during the season. Either way it’s all love and I hope the cat gets some shine. I got three on my homepage right now in similar situations.

Yo, Yo Yo, forget scoring…it’s all about the Academics. No GPA, no Ship to a four-year! It ain’t like back in the day when you went Juco and cruised through to a big-time school. Things are being checked…

The reason I said to google his stats is to see that he’s solid. The coach sat him quite a few games during the end of the year, which hurt his average. And I wasn’t suggesting he averegd 20 to 30 points cuz if he did, not even a brainless coach could stop a player from getting into school. Plus, he has 3 other scorers who liked to shoot a lot. 2 of which who are going to Hofstra next year. There’s only so many shots to go around. It’s like playing with Jack Ryan and Bobbito at the Y. How many shots can you really get up in one game? I also said he was a team player so being that he had other talent, he passed more than shot, but mixed well with the team and made Broward better. You’d have to watch a whole game to judge what kind of player he is. Or if some team let him be the #1 go to guy…Thanks.

Real quick I just have one simply question which requires a straight and honest answer…do you think that he is better than you?

  8. Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love says:

dag, joe–do i not pass you the ball enough at the Y?!!! hahaha

  9. Joseph Vecsey says:

    Bobbito:

Thank God, through all that you seeked out my dry humor. I’m glad I didnt have to put “LOL” after that for you to get it was a joke….I had 3 ppl call me and say, you and Bob aren’t getting along cuz he doesn’t pass to you? I was laughing

  10. Joseph Vecsey says:

    Seldom Seen:

Yes. Especially mentally. He doesn’t let these ego trippin’ bi#tches (coaches) screw his head up, which is good. He’s a great player and I think this past year, he proved he was a better player.

We still go at it though! Over the course of my time in FL, we played 41 games one on one. I won 21, he won 20.

  11. Seldom Seen says:

Now that’s competitive but who’s keeping count and I suppose all of the games were won by 1 pt…I wish him well sounds like he deserves a “real” shot to get an honest look to show and prove which I’m sure he will

  12. Joseph Vecsey says:

They were all close, coach Seldom Seen

  13. crazygame says:

You are wrong, kardok was given a chance and could not live up to it. he shot 26% from the field and played scared. the coach started him at the start of the season and he never got it done, he was no way better than Dev Peterson.\ he has nobody to blame but himself, we did it with out him at best he is a d-3 player. he had several chances to go to schools and never did he follow up, again shame on him dont be a hater

  14. crazygame says:

Kardok is now a practice dummy at USF, found his thang

  15. JosephVecsey says:

    CrazyGame:

State your name. Don’t be scared. I know you won’t cuz’ I can easily pull your card.

  16. baller says:

dont be upset crazy because you know he would whoop you one on one…kids got talent and is better than thirty percent of the players on USF…the asst. coaches even said the same…so get your facts straight guy..
