When you go to Nike Pro City at Hunter College (68th and Lexington), you never know who’s going to show up. You have the overseas player looking to run with his boys while in town, and then you have the NBA dudes looking to get good comp during the off-season. Yesterday, Tiffany Jackson and Shameka Christon of the New York Liberty stopped in to catch the X-Men take on Dyckman. X-Men had Golden State Warriors forward Al Harrington in uniform and Dyckman had no answer for the former St. Patrick’s HS (NJ) product, whose arms are so long they literally touch his knees. Dyckman was able to keep the contest close up until about halftime behind the outside shooting of Nate Brown. After leading by only nine (74-65) at the half, X-Men opened up the lead to as many as 20 points, sparked by the inside-outside tandem of Harrington and Mike “The Icon” Campbell, who knocked down three trey-bombs in the second half. With star guard Andre “3000” Barrett having an off night shooting the rock, Dyckman couldn’t whittle the lead and succumbed to X-Men 135-119.
Alvin Young led five X-Men players in double figure scoring with 26 points, while Harrington added 21. Campbell and Tommie “Gunz” Eddie each finished with 20, while BJ “The Beast” McFarland chipped in with 18. Brown led Dyckman with 22 and Boakai Lalugba added 19 on 7-for-8 shooting, about six of which were rim shattering two hand flushes.

nate brown is quietly the most improved guard in the city the last 2 years. don’t get me wrong–he was always nice especially when he came out of st. peters, but he just keeps on getting better and more mature. we ran together in nickelodeon like 5 years ago and he’d get out of control sometimes. now he is in stride and a total point guard deluxe in marley marl control hour fashion.

Yep, they were fun to watch back at The High. I lived a couple blocks from there so I tried to catch a game whenever I could. They hardly let spectators in, luckily a lot of my peoples went to the school so I got cool with security and got in for some games.
