Strategic Advertising…. / Jul 2, 2008 / 8:30 am

Photobucket

Above is the preliminary team picture of the 2008 USA Olympics Men’s Basketball squad (which has been dubbed the “Dream Team II” by some). Anyways, peep the footwear. You’ll see an assortment of Hyperdunks, the Jordan Melo IV, the CP3 1.0, and the Converse Wade 1.3. However, it appears as if Coach K strategically blocked out Dwight Howard’s pair of adidas TS Commanders with his delightful choice of dressy butters.

Obviously, the Duke Blue Devils are sponsored by Nike, and the USA team rolls with Nike themed apparel. Not to be outdone is Dwight, who is cupping his hand over the Swoosh…

Is my mind playing tricks on me?

(Observations thanks to Niketalk…)

why Jeremy, are you accusing Nike of being a monopoly in the athletic apparel game? i know you as an above average intelligence possesing young man wouldnt dare succumb to such an unfounded and radical conspiracy type of thinking, would you? lol! technically the converse brand is a subsidiary of nike since nike owns the brand,so you might be right rabbit, you might……. lol!

Hahaa, did you think of this yourself?? Hmmm, that is extremely weird though.

Thats far from a coincidence. Mike did it back in 92 when he draped over the US Flag over his warm ups on the Medal stand so the reebok logo wouldnt show. You know Nike dont play that.

I dont know about this being the Dream Team II tho. More like Guards R’ Us. We’ll see what happens come august.

Don’t mind seeing PR make a run this year; plus their joints are sponsored by Jordan Brand.. heh heh. Wonder if Arroyo will cover the jumpman logo in his team’s photo-op?

this is definitely a marketing strategy by nike. first off, why is coach K sitting?
non-nike athlete standing in the end of the line and his coach covering his shoe by sitting in front of him?
Isn’t this a little too much for a coincidence?

I bet the photographer was paid a whole lot of money by nike to take a perfect shot so that nike could use this picture for an ad. remember, this is corporate america.. there are a lot of money involved in a picture like this!
