Kareem Abdul-Jabbar At Dyckman 1969 / Jun 30, 2008 / 10:00 am

Dan the Man sent us this photo last week of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar playing half court with his buddies back in 1969. Look close and we’re pretty sure it’s Dyckman Park, 204th St. and Nagle, same one that Kenny Stephens uses for his current youth and men’s tournament today! Kareem is from Dyckman Projects, and his first playground coach was none other than Mr. Couch, who in ‘07 celebrated 50 years on the sidelines helping players grow in and out of bounds. Check Kareem’s blog to see more of the NBA’s all-time leading scorer (yes, more than Jordan or anyone else) and his beliefs on conditioning, food, ball, and more.
