Following NYC auditions for the upcoming Sweetwater basketball film, we’re proud to announce Wood Harris will be playing the lead role as the former NY Knickerbocker who helped break the NBA’s racial line back in the early ’50s. You may remember him from his role in Above the Rim where he portrayed Tupac’s right hand man and showed he was a legitimate ballplayer on camera, but you may not know that he also plays on the regular. We spotted him at Brooklyn’s Rodney Park Tournament three summers ago, where the announcer was calling him, “The Wire.” Wood is good peoples, and will pay justice to this movie.
Playground legend James “Speedy” Williams, the ‘07 Last Man Standing 1-on-1 Champ and multiple MVP winner at West 4th, EBC, and Nike Pro City, has also been cast. He was also a principal actor in Above the Rim. Rumors abound that Cuba Gooding Jr. may have a cameo playing the legendary Louis Jordan. We’re gonna be on the lookout for this when it gets released. Stay tuned . . .

Speedy Williams (left) will have to play hard D on camera when they start shooting this summer.
