The Puerto Rican Parade, NYC’s most attended annual event of its kind, goes down this upcoming weekend. You’ll find many a sneakerhead on floats and in the 5th Ave. crowd as well as the pre-parade en El Barrio. Here’s some joints you’ll probably see:

Nike AF1 on DJ Sucio Smash at the Knitting Factory. It was brick outside the night of his performance, and the sight of la bandera brought some warmth.

Nike AF1 on a student at the LaGuardia House Community Center. I was there for a speaking engagement and had to give shorty a pound for reppin’ it hardbody right in El Barrio a.k.a. Spanish Harlem, the center for Puerto Rican culture throughout the whole U.S.

Reebok S. Carter Classic on my nephew Chris Robles. They were actually designed by Mike Parker, the mind behind the first Nike Puerto Rico AF1 in ‘99 while he was at the swoosh. He continued the concept with the bok.

New Era Puerto Rico Cap. Copped it at Goliath on 105th St. between Lexington and Third Ave. It’s my favorite sneaker spot in Spanish Harlem! Shout out to Rosemary, Wayne, and crew.
In October ‘07, I posted a Feet On The Street after returning from the homeland. Check out some of the joints I saw heads rocking here.
