I’m Yelling 187… / May 15, 2008 / 9:17 am

The year was 2000 and trey. I’ll always remember the year fondly, because I really discovered rap. From Illmatic to Slick Rick’s The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, if an album was heralded as a classic, I made attempts to hear it (a task I later found to be impossible). More specifically, I still recall the first time I rocked out to Dr. Dre’s The Chronic. Right from the get go, I was enamored with joints like, Let Me Ride and Snoop Dogg’s constant mention of “187-ing”. Having no idea what the latter term meant, I Googled it, finding that it was a slang term for killing a member of Compton’s least favorite law enforcement group.

German hoops brand k1x has dropped its latest performance gem, the 187, a signature ride for Bronx native Corey Williams. Taking cues from Homicide’s explosive game, the shoe offers the company’s patented W.H.U.I.T.A. cushioning pad, a traction tech outsole, and a thick memory foam ankle collar for support on those herky-jerky moves.

Not sure if you will see these on Snoop’s feet anytime soon, but more info check out the k1x Blog.

I’d like to see some other colorways. Memory foam sounds super interesting though.
