God Squad’s president and CEO Jimmy Smith was sitting in church on an ordinary Sunday in Portland, Oregon, as his Pastor James Martin proceeded to deliver a sermon about executing God’s game plan in life. At the end of his vivid presentation, Martin added, “God is the team owner, Jesus Christ is the GM, and I’m your coach. Now, I can’t play the game for you. You have to do that.” Holding up the Bible, he asserted, “You all have to go out there and execute the plays in the playbook!”

Needless to say, the church service helped evoke an epiphany for Smith. He instantly started God Squad Athletics, and the rest is history. The independent clothing company now has a series of beautifully crafted athletic jerseys, all with direct ties to the Bible.
