Pony Shouts, “We’re Back!” / Mar 27, 2008 / 12:30 am

With a new advertising campaign, a contract with the Footlocker/Champs/Footaction family, and a revamped design office and design team, Pony is looking to make noise for the first time in more than twenty years. Above is their first commercial, which features the ultra-famous David Beckham and our very own, Kool Bob Love (well kinda…)!

Hahaha! Good spoof of other companies’ ads. Is this official? No beef from Nike and adidas?

hi-larious!!!!! looks like scary movie meets espn!!!

  3. Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love says:

haha! yo–that totally isn’t me, man! the bald headed dude in the pony ad is a spoof of luis ‘triks’ dasilva from the nike freestyle commercial from 2001. not for nothing, i’m feeling the pony starter 2008 reinventions. i wore the original starter back in ‘80, although they were the inferior version (or take-down) of the pro model that the nba players would rock . . .

footnote: Bob McAdoo, one of Pony’s biggest signature athletes and former NBA scoring leader, and I have the same birthday September 25th. Scottie Pippen is on that team, too.

Bob- Not trying to beef, and definitely not trying to say you don’t know you, but I really have to disagree. The dude from the 22-24 doesn’t resemble you exactly, but he does a quick little dance move with the rock reminiscent of what you did–I could be reaching though.

Bakar-To my knowledge, this joint is official. Even if I happened to be Nike, adi., or UnderArmour, I wouldn’t really beef–I mean, Pony just ouplayed & outstaged them a bit.

I’m planning on making a few posts dedicated to Pony’s reinvigorated line next week. They’ve got some cool stuff coming. As Bob mentioned, the Starter ‘08 is really dope, as is the Trifecta in red/blue/white, & the Grand Prix in brown/white. There’s a few more hoops joints coming that I really dig, but don’t know when they’ll drop.

    Stay tuned.
